Mathematical models of the structural parametric optimization of plasma dynamics are discussed. Optimization approach to plasma dynamic is based on the consideration of trajectory ensemble. This ensemble describes transient process in tokamak subject to the initial data and external disturbances. In the framework of this approach the optimization of dynamics of the trajectory ensemble in ITER tokamak is given. The trajectories of this ensemble are perturbed at the initial point set and the set of external disturbances.

Quantum key distribution (QKD) is one of the exciting applications of quantum mechanics. It allows the sharing of secret keys between two communicating parties with unconditional security. A variety of QKD protocols have been proposed since the inception of the BB84 protocol. Among different implementation techniques of QKD protocols, there is a category which exploits higher dimensions qubit states to encode classical bits. In this paper, we focus on such a QKD protocol called KXB10, which uses three bases with higher dimensions. Analysis of the generalized dimension quantum states is performed by evaluating it based on the index transmission error rate ITER. We find that there is a direct relationship between qubit dimensions and ITER for the KXB10 protocol.

Secure exchange of cryptographic keys is extremely important for any communication system where security and privacy of data is desirable. Although classical cryptographic algorithms provide computationally secure methods for secret key exchange, quantum key distribution (QKD) provides an extraordinary means to this end by guaranteeing unconditional security. Any malicious interception of communication by a man-in-the-middle on a QKD link immediately alerts sender and receiver by introducing an unavoidable error-rate. Higher-dimensional QKD protocols such as KMB09 exhibit higher eavesdropping error-rates with improved intrusion detection but their practical implementation is still awaited. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of KMB09 protocol using Laguerre–Gaussian orbital angular momentum to demonstrate and highlight the advantages of using dynamic spatial modes in QKD system. A complete error-rate analysis of KMB09 protocol implementation is presented with two different types of eavesdropping error-rates. Furthermore, we also demonstrate the decoy state method to show the robustness of the protocol against photon-number-splitting attack.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) are so far the most successful applications, with tens of thousands of units worldwide, but high potential can also be recognized in the energy sector, with high energy cables, transformers, motors, generators for wind turbines, fault current limiters and devices for magnetic energy storage. A large number of magnet and cable prototypes have been constructed, showing in all cases high reliability. Large projects involving the construction of magnets, solenoids as well as dipoles and quadrupoles are described in the present book. A very large project, the LHC, is currently in operation, demonstrating that superconductivity is a reliable technology, even in a device of unprecedented high complexity. A project of similar complexity is ITER, a fusion device that is presently under construction. This article starts with a brief historical introduction to superconductivity as a phenomenon, and some fundamental properties necessary for the understanding of the technical behavior of superconductors are described. The introduction of superconductivity in the industrial cycle faces many challenges, first for the properties of the base elements, e.g. the wires, tapes and thin films, then for the various applied devices, where a number of new difficulties had to be resolved. A variety of industrial applications in energy, medicine and communications are briefly presented, showing how superconductivity is now entering the market.

The TORAY module in PTRANSP is used to generate self-consistent, time-evolving predictions of electron cyclotron current drive and heating in H-mode and Hybrid ITER plasmas. Various scenarios for steering midplane and upper launching antenna are considered. Electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) is deposition beyond r/a ≃ 0.3 can delay the decrease of the central safety factor in Hybrid plasmas below unity, maintaining q(0) above unity for long durations.
