The paper discusses a unique technique developed initially at Nation Institute of Technology, Surat that is remodeled in real-world applications. The concept consists primarily of a user-friendly software facilitating direct communication with any intelligent or learning system/robot operating under known parameters of motor specifications. Any software base permitting high level PC interface without ASCII interrupt can be used for easy programming. This allows for a learning operation mode where a prevention of time lag is enabled by stored machine data, captured through movements such movements can be physically made or taught via programs to the device and such learning aspects make the machine more efficient where the robot can either perform individual actions as needed or learn new methods for the same results and can perform a series of actions continuously. Using the stored data, the machine is also capable of autonomous movements based on the path of least resistance as calculated by the time it takes to perform an act.

Interfacing Technique Tool Machining Robot (ITTMR) was developed as robotic tool holder that can determine the shape and size of different OCTG pipes utilized in the downhole industry and enable it to machine appropriate threads on the pipe with no manual intervention.

The process thereby completely negates any possibility of human error which can otherwise cause heavy loss on finished equipment that are rendered unusable because of threading errors on almost nearly finished complex milled parts or assemblies that are pending threads as the final operation. The purpose of the software codes is to provide a user-friendly GUI that can communicate with any machine by pulling in appropriate ACNC programs and performing the required tasks associated with the operating system and specifications of the motors/mobilization equipment’s used. For the purpose of this paper, the software code is not provided.

Any firmware base that permits the usage of an ASCII interrupt can be used and for the purpose of this operation, an RS323 equivalent board will also suffice for basic operations, however a complex ITTMR system has been utilized. This paper solely addresses the technique of how the threading operation is performed and does not address the process of how the pipe is bought to the machine or other associated aspects of the software to retain any possible patent applications on the same.

The Stroh formalism of piezoelectric material, Fourier analysis and singular integral equations technique are used to investigate the existence of the pulse in presence of local separation at frictionless interface between two contact piezoelectric solids, which are pressed together by uniaxial tractions and laid in the electric field. The problem is cast into a set of singular integral equations with Cauchy kernel of which the closed solutions are derived. The numerical discussion on the existence of such slip pulse is presented. The results show that such slip pulse, which has square-root singularities at both ends of the local separation zone, can propagate in most material combinations. And the existence of such slip pulse will be affected by applied mechanical and electric fields in some special material combinations.

Interface is an important element for the interaction problem of soil masses and object. This paper proposes an interface layer method to treat the interface of saturated soil medium and rigid object (solid). In the domain, the radial point interpolation method (radial PIM) with compact support is applied. An interface layer is proposed to treat the compression, opening and shear friction of the interface. This method has following advantages over traditional interface element (Goodman, 1968). First, the node distribution on both sides of interface is not required to be the same. Such a scheme is special helpful to the meshless methods for both side domains. Second, water flow in the interface can be considered if the interface is open. Third, the accuracy for interface interpolation is adjustable according to the node distribution. Numerical examples are studied to demonstrate the capability of the current interface layer method.

A 3D single fiber pull-out model based on material meso-level and heterogeneity had been set up by using parallel computing approach with millions cells. AE (Acoustic Emission) evolution process, tensile stress nephograms and load-step-AE curves could, therefore, be obtained and discussed on models with various interface heterogeneities parameters. The results show that peak load and brittleness increase when the interface heterogeneity increases while toughness drops. In addition, high heterogeneity could weaken interface capacity for buffering tensile stress concentration when fiber is being pulled out.

In-situ surface potential mapping are employed to investigate the interfacial interaction between VOPc molecular bilayers and HOPG surface. A small energy level offset of tens of millivolt is revealed only between the 1^st VOPc molecular bilayer and the HOPG, which indicates the existence of a short-range interaction between the 1^st bilayer and the HOPG surface. While the VOPc thin film is exposed to oxygen ambient, change of surface potential is observed. We show that the interfacial interaction is strongly altered by the doping effect from the ambient gases.

Based on the concepts of system safety engineering, life-cycle and interface that comes from American system safety standard MIL-STD-882E, and apply them to the process of risk analysis and management of large-scale activities. Identify the involved personnel, departments, funds and other contents throughout the life cycle of large-scale activities. Recognize and classify the ultimate risk sources of people, objects and environment of large-scale activities from the perspective of interface. Put forward the accident cause analysis model according to the previous large-scale activities' accidents and combine with the analysis of the risk source interface. Analyze the risks of each interface and summary various types of risks the large-scale activities faced. Come up with the risk management consciousness, policies and regulations, risk control and supervision departments improvement ideas.

In this paper, selective laser sintering (SLS) was applied to join two materials by printing Ti–6Al–4V powder on a Ti substrate without any support parts. The characteristics of the interface between the as-built Ti–6Al–4V sample and the substrate were investigated. The analysis indicates that a heat-affected zone (HAZ) and the fish-scale type were formed at the joining area. The combination of smaller grains, acicular α′ martensite, and lamellar (α + β) structures was observed inside the interface zone. The hardness value at the interface area was measured by about 320 HV which is higher than 280 HV of the substrate and smaller than 369 HV of the as-built sample. The results predict that the SLS process is a promising method for manufacturing of hybrid materials.
