PREPARING FOR PHYSICS AT THE LHC

    The status of the construction and commissioning of the LHC machine and detectors is presented, with emphasis on the experiment preparation for physics with test-beam data and cosmics runs. A few examples of physics goals with the very first data (from a few to a few hundred pb-1) are discussed.
