In this study, we report the biosynthesis of Nickel ferrite using Ocimum sanctum leaf extract (OSLE@NiFe₂O${}_4)$. The single-phase cubic spinel structure of the synthesized nickel ferrite was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. Structural characteristics were further examined using FTIR analysis. Optical and morphological properties were investigated through UV–DRS and FESEM studies. The magnetic hysteresis loop (M-H loop) confirmed the superparamagnetic nature of OSLE@NiFe₂O₄ nanoparticles. The photocatalytic degradation of Congo Red (CR) dye by the synthesized OSLE@NiFe₂O₄ nanoparticles was explored, revealing a pseudo-first-order kinetic behavior with a degradation efficiency of 99.9% and a rate constant of 0.06min${}^{-1}$. These findings demonstrate the superior photocatalytic activity of the biosynthesized nickel ferrite nanoparticles, highlighting their significant potential for efficient dye removal.

In this study, the effects of the molarity of the precipitating agent on the synthesis of nanostructured NiFe₂O₄ powders by coprecipitation, followed by calcination were investigated and its optimum amount was also determined. Ni-ferrite powder was synthesized for the first time by dissolving Fe and Ni chlorides and ammonium ferrous sulfate in deionized water with different molar proportions. While stirring, the precipitating agent of NaOH was added to the solution with different molarities and after 1 hour of aging, the resultant precipitate was washed with deionized water and acetone.

It was concluded that single phase nickel ferrite nanocrystalline powders can be prepared by use of 2.2M NaOH, with crystallite size of 30-50 nm.

The corrosion products formed on the internal surfaces of the primary system are the major factor that generates radioactive contaminants such as oxide films and cruds during decommissioning, causing radiation exposure to workers. Thus, decontamination of nuclear facility surfaces is crucial to ensure the safe completion of decommissioning work. This study applied laser decontamination, which enables precise work while minimizing the deformation of the material surface through the control of process parameters, and investigated the characteristics of the decontaminated area. Specimens coated with Ni-ferrite on an aluminum alloy (A6061) substrate were fabricated and used in this experiment. Laser decontamination was performed using a low-power Q’switching fiber laser while varying the laser beam overlap rate and number of scans. The results of laser decontamination differed by the process parameters and material characteristics. It is determined that high decontamination efficiency can be achieved if appropriate conditions are applied.

In this work, a novel method of mechano sol–gel auto-combustion has been developed for production of single phase nickel ferrite nanocrystalline powder, consisting of a sol–gel auto-combustion synthesis followed by a high energy milling process before calcination. Sol–gel auto-combustion was carried out using a gel including citric acid as a reductant and metal nitrates as oxidants. This gel exhibited a self-propagating behavior after ignition in air. The effects of the intermediate high energy milling on the physical properties of the final product after calcination were investigated. The results showed that with a high energy milling of the sol–gel auto-combusted powders with a ball-to-powder mass ratio of 20 for 20 h, the temperature of calcination for synthesis of the single phase ferrite reduced from 1000°C to 700°C and the size of the ferrite crystallites decreased from 72 nm to 15 nm.
