Dermatologic oncology’s precision medicine revolutionizes skin cancer detection by integrating advanced technologies and personalized patient data. Dermatologic oncology concentrates on detecting skin cancer, utilizing modern techniques and technologies to detect and classify several kinds of cutaneous malignancies. Leveraging medical knowledge or advanced imaging approaches like dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy; dermatologists effectively investigate skin cancer for subtle signs of malignancy. Furthermore, computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) systems, controlled by machine learning (ML) methods, are gradually deployed to boost diagnostic accuracy by investigating massive datasets of dermatoscopic images. It is a multi-disciplinary method that allows early recognition of skin lesions and enables precise prognostication and particular treatment approach, finally enhancing patient outcomes in dermatologic oncology. This paper presents the Fractals Snake Optimization with Deep Learning for Accurate Classification of Skin Cancer in Dermoscopy Images (SODL-ACSCDI) approach. The purpose of the SODL-ACSCDI approach is to identify and categorize the existence of skin cancer on Dermoscopic images. The SODL-ACSCDI technique applies a contrast enhancement process as the initial step. Next, the SODL-ACSCDI technique involves the SE-ResNet+FPN model for deriving intrinsic and complex feature patterns from dermoscopic images. Additionally, the SO technique can help boost the hyperparameter selection of the SE-ResNet+FPN approach. Furthermore, skin cancer classification uses the convolutional autoencoder (CAE) approach. The experimentation results of the SODL-ACSCDI technique could be examined using a dermoscopic image dataset. A wide-ranging result of the SODL-ACSCDI technique indicated a superior performance of 99.61% compared to recent models concerning various metrics.
The emergence of drug resistance in Type 1 (T1) breast cancer poses a critical challenge to effective treatment and patient outcomes. Our study introduces an innovative framework that integrates Bayesian statistical methods with machine learning (ML) to advance predictive modeling of drug resistance mechanisms in T1 breast cancer. By uniting the strengths of dynamic Bayesian networks (DBNs) and ML, this approach enables the analysis of complex, multi-dimensional clinical data, including genomic, proteomic, and treatment response datasets.
DBNs are employed to model the temporal evolution of resistance mechanisms, capturing time-dependent biological changes. ML algorithms complement this by uncovering intricate patterns and forecasting resistance trajectories under various therapeutic regimens. This synergistic combination not only identifies key biomarkers and resistance pathways but also addresses uncertainty and variability in patient responses, providing a robust predictive tool.
The resulting model offers actionable insights to clinicians, aiding in the optimization of treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes. This work highlights the transformative potential of integrating Bayesian and ML methodologies to unravel complex biological phenomena, paving the way for advancements in precision oncology and personalized medicine.
While pattern identification (PI) is an essential process in traditional medicine (TM), it is difficult to objectify since it relies heavily on implicit knowledge. Therefore, this study aimed to propose a machine learning (ML)-based analysis tool to evaluate the clinical decision-making process of PI in terms of explicit and implicit knowledge, and to observe the actual process by which this knowledge affects the choice of diagnosis and treatment in individual TM doctors. Clinical data for the development of the analysis tool were collected using a questionnaire administered to allergic rhinitis (AR) patients and the diagnosis and prescription results of TM doctors based on the completed AR questionnaires. Explicit knowledge and implicit knowledge were defined based on the doctors’ explicit scoring and feature evaluations of ML models, respectively. There were many differences between the explicit and implicit importance scores in this study. Implicit importance is more closely related to explicit importance in prescription than in diagnosis. The analysis results for eight doctors showed that our tool could successfully identify explicit and implicit knowledge in the PI process. This is the first study to evaluate the actual process by which explicit and implicit knowledge affect the choice of individual TM doctors and to identify assessment tools for the definition of the decision-making process in diagnosing PI and prescribing herbal treatments by TM clinicians. The assessment tool suggested in this study could be broadly used for the standardization of precision medicine, including TM therapeutics.
