Identifying critical nodes in complex networks is a challenging topic. There are already various crucial node identification methods based on deep learning. However, these methods ignore the interactions between nodes and neighbors when learning node representations, which result in node features learnt insufficient. To solve this problem, we propose a critical node identification model that combines self-attention and ResNet. First, we take degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality and clustering coefficient as the features of nodes and use a novel neighbor feature polymerization approach to generate a feature matrix for each node. Then, the susceptible infection recovery (SIR) model is used to simulate the propagation ability of the nodes, and the nodes are categorized based on their propagation ability to acquire their labels. Finally, the feature matrix and labels of the nodes are used as inputs to the model to learn the hidden representation of the nodes. We evaluate the model with accuracy, precision, recall, the F1 index, the ROC curve, and the PR curve in five real networks. The results show that the method outperforms benchmark methods and can effectively identify critical nodes in complex networks.

The lack of research on the metering characteristics of electricity power meters under complex conditions is a major obstacle to the on-site verification of electrical energy metering equipment. Establishing a predictive model for electricity power meter errors offers an effective way of dealing with this issue. Deep learning has been proven to have the capacity to reduce end-to-end dimensionality and improve recognition. Through the analysis of the back propagation process in residual networks, an improved residual network is set out in this paper. While preserving the advantages of residual network gradient propagation, it adds an adjustable shortcut and designs a convex $k$-parameter strategy that can be improved according to different processing objects. Experimental results show that the predicted errors produced by the proposed technique are significantly lower than in a comparable model. At the same time, the improved residual network does not increase the network’s complexity.

The recognition of steel microstructure images plays a crucial role in the metallographic analysis process. Although some progress has been made through the application of artificial intelligence algorithms, several challenges remain. First, existing algorithms exhibit weak nonlinear feature extraction capabilities and noticeable limitations. Second, they overlook the intrinsic noise and redundant interference present in microscopic images. To address these issues, this paper investigates the automatic recognition of metallographic tissues by leveraging residual structures in deep neural networks. An enhanced residual network model based on transfer learning is proposed, which utilizes the pre-trained weights from the ImageNet dataset to facilitate learning with small sample data. This network offers higher classification accuracy and higher F1 scores. In addition, a deep residual shrinkage network model based on an attention mechanism is proposed. This model incorporates an attention sub-network into the original residual module and employs a soft threshold function to eliminate redundant features, including noise. The proposed algorithms are evaluated against various convolutional neural networks using 20 types of metallographic test sets. The experimental results showed that both methods have high accuracy rates of 95% and 94.44%, respectively, and F1 scores of 0.9464 and 0.9419. While maintaining the complexity of the model, there has been a significant improvement in accuracy, and the models exhibit strong generalization capabilities. Our research contributes to enhancing production efficiency, strengthening quality control, and improving material performance through computer vision technology.

Environmental sound classification (ESC) is a challenging problem due to the complexity of sounds. To date, a variety of signal processing and machine learning techniques have been applied to ESC task, including matrix factorization, dictionary learning, wavelet filterbanks and deep neural networks. It is observed that features extracted from deeper networks tend to achieve higher performance than those extracted from shallow networks. However, in ESC task, only the deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) which contain several layers are used and the residual networks are ignored, which lead to degradation in the performance. Meanwhile, a possible explanation for the limited exploration of CNNs and the difficulty to improve on simpler models is the relative scarcity of labeled data for ESC. In this paper, a residual network called EnvResNet for the ESC task is proposed. In addition, we propose to use audio data augmentation to overcome the problem of data scarcity. The experiments will be performed on the ESC-50 database. Combined with data augmentation, the proposed model outperforms baseline implementations relying on mel-frequency cepstral coefficients and achieves results comparable to other state-of-the-art approaches in terms of classification accuracy.
