This paper is an attempt to improve the understanding of the role played by professionalism in the implementation of a high-performance work system (HPWS). Based on institution theory, this paper seeks to investigate how professional norms (i.e. the competence and political stature of the actors involved) as an institutional factor affects the efficacy of the relationship interaction between human resources (HR) and line managers when implementing HPWS functions. In other words, investigating the extent to which the partnership and co-ordination between HR and line management exists based on their professional norms. Using a case study involving two Saudi banks, and conducting semistructure interview with 54 managers, results indicated that both HR professionals and unit members' political stature and competencies have significant impacts on building trust and reciprocity. Furthermore, line managers' work-type priorities and interests form another vital factor that has an implication for the level of interaction between the two players.
Role is a behavior that is expected by high-social-level people, but in the context of this research, what is meant by role is the existence and vitality of OCSI insurance. Organizer Council of Social Insurance (OCSI) is a state department assigned specifically by the government to organize health insurance for all of Indonesia, especially for civil servants, retired civil servants, Indonesian army and police, veterans, and independence pioneers together with their families and other departments or regular society that started to operate on 1 January 2014. This research focuses on measuring the role of OCSI in improving social health as seen from maqasad al-shari’ah view. Under protection of religion, there are three indicators with the percentage of 2.8%, whereby under protection of life, three indicators show 37%. Under protection of intellect, it reaches 25.4% and shows strong relation to the object being studied but only places the second. Meanwhile, protection of wealth and protection of descendant reach 14.27% and 9.4% consecutively.
Traditional access control of CSCW system is lack of delegation mechanism. For improving it and achieving resource share in the heterogeneous distributed environment, Role-Activity Based Delegation Model for CSCW (abbr. RABDM for CSCW) was presented based on RBAC policies and the important properties of activity, object-oriented visual modeling was also further represented using Unified Modeling Language. The model with time and constraint characters solves the issue of authorization centralization in the actual application of Graphics and Images Collaboration Processing System Based on CSCW, and realizes distributed and dynamic characters. Visual modeling also shortens the gap between the abstract theory model and implementation of the applied system, and benefits designing and development of systems based on the self-contained model.
Monochromatic infrared energy (MIRE) or anodyne therapy has been shown to increase nitric oxide level locally and increase the local circulation at the site it is applied. Diabetic foot ulcers may take a long time to heal. Chronic diabetic foot ulcers resistant to conventional treatment with daily dressings could be treated with anodyne therapy on an outpatient basis. The authors showed successful application of their modality of treatment in four chronic diabetic foot ulcers which failed to heal with conventional methods.
Organization is an incorporate form of MAS. We study CGF modeling and simulation based on multi-agent from the viewpoint of organization, and establish an organization meta-model based on the four-layer architecture of mission/role/capability/agent. Basic elements of the meta-model were defined and described, the formalization description of the organization model was found out and an example to validate the model was given. The capability concept for organization role and agent was presented to improve the mission distribution flexibility and adaptability.
