Grover’s search algorithm and similar techniques are widely used in quantum information science. Communication lines with the so-called oracle are one of inevitable vulnerabilities of quantum search. The impact of localized dephasing and amplitude damping on Grover’s algorithm had already been discussed in recent literature. In this paper, we study the influence of depolarization in the oracle-box wires on the search process. It is shown that even low level of noise is sufficient to degenerate Grover’s algorithm. Complementarity relations between the relative entropy of coherence and the success probability in the presence of depolarization are studied as well.

We present two schemes for probabilistically teleporting a two-atom entangled state using a three-atom partially entangled state as the quantum channel in cavity QED with the help of separate atomic measurements. The first scheme is only based on the interaction between two driven atoms and a quantized cavity mode in the large detuning limit, so the effects of both cavity decay and the thermal field are eliminated. In the second scheme, it is necessary to introduce an additional resonant cavity besides the thermal cavity to realize the teleportation, and the corresponding success probability is improved.

Recently we studied the effect of photon addition in the initial coherent field on the entanglement swapping which causes some improvements in the process [Soltani et al., Int. J. Mod. Phys. B31, 1750198 (2017)]. In this paper, we investigate the influence of multiphoton transitions in the atom–field interaction based on the cavity quantum electrodynamics on the entanglement swapping and show its considerable constructive effect on this process. The presented model consists of two two-level atoms namely A₁ and A₂ and two distinct cavity fields F₁ and F₂. Initially, the atoms are prepared in a maximally entangled state and the fields in the cavities are prepared in hybrid entangled state of number and coherent states, separately. Making the atom A₂ to interact with the field F₁ (via the generalized Jaynes–Cummings model which allows m-photon transitions between atomic levels in the emission and absorption processes) followed by their detection allows us to arrive at the entanglement swapping from the two atoms A₁, A₂ and the two fields F₁, F₂ to the atom–field A₁–F₂ system. Then, we pay our attention to the time evolution of success probability of detecting processes and fidelity. Also, to determine the amount of entanglement of the generated entangled state in the swapping process, the linear entropy is evaluated and the effect of parameter $m$ concerning the multiphoton transitions on these quantities is investigated, numerically. It is observed that, by increasing the number of photons in the transition process, one may obtain considerable improvement in the relevant quantities of the entanglement swapping. In detail, the satisfactorily acceptable values 1 and 0.5 corresponding to success probability and fidelity are obtained for most of the times during observing of the above-mentioned procedure. We concluded that the presented formalism in this paper is much more advantageous than our presentation model in our earlier work mentioned above.

We present a modified scheme for probabilistic remote preparation of a single qubit when partial classical knowledge of preparing state is available for the receiver. This is in contrast with the previous remote state preparation schemes that the receiver has no classical knowledge of preparing state. It is demonstrated that the total success probability of remote state preparation will be greatly improved when the receiver has partial classical knowledge of preparing state.

A scheme for remotely preparing an arbitrary two-particle pure state is proposed by employing bipartite nonmaximally entangled states as quantum channels. During the preparation, two auxiliary particles and an optimal positive operator-valued measurement are introduced. The preparation of two-particle pure states can be remotely realized with certain success probability (SP). And the SP of our scheme is exactly worked out. It turns out that the SP depends inherently on the quantum channels employed beforehand. Furthermore, we find that, as far as two special ensembles of two-particle states are concerned, i.e. real and equatorial-like, the SP can be enhanced to quadruple.

Quantum dialogue is a process of two-way secure and simultaneous communication using a single channel. Recently, a Measurement Device Independent Quantum Dialogue (MDI-QD) protocol has been proposed [A. Maitra, Measurement device independent quantum dialogue,Quantum Inf. Process.16(12) (2017) 305]. To make the protocol secure against information leakage, the authors have discarded almost half of the qubits remaining after the error estimation phase. In this paper, we propose two modified versions of the MDI-QD protocol such that the number of discarded qubits is reduced to almost one-fourth of the remaining qubits after the error estimation phase. We use almost half of their discarded qubits along with their used qubits to make our protocol more efficient in qubits count. We show that both of our protocols are secure under the same adversarial model given in MDI-QD protocol.
