This paper is a numeric-analytical work for highly efficient difference-frequency generation (DFG) by the integrated effect of total-internal-reflection-based optical rotation quasi-phase-matching (ORQPM) and nonresonant quasi-phase-matching techniques in a thin yttrium oxide-coated rectangular slab of magnesium oxide-doped lithium niobate crystal. The conversion efficiency of 37.2% has been obtained by ray-optics analysis, corresponding to an idler wavelength of 1570nm. Moreover, the guided-wave approach has also been analyzed for more accurate and realistic outcomes, yielding a peak conversion efficiency of 1.64%. The impact of the influencing factors like surface roughness, absorption, and nonlinear law of reflection has also been incorporated in the computer-aided simulation for providing a pragmatic understanding of the whole study.

Thin-film deposition processes have gained much popularity due to their unique capability to enhance the physical and chemical properties of various materials. Identification of the best parametric combination for a deposition process to achieve desired coating quality is often considered to be challenging due to the involvement of a large number of input process parameters and conflicting responses. This study discusses the development of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system-based models for the prediction of quality measures of two thin-film deposition processes, i.e., SiCN thin-film coating using thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process and Ni–Cr alloy thin-film coating using direct current magnetron sputtering process. The predicted response values obtained from the developed models are validated and compared based on actual experimental results which exhibit a very close match between both the values. The corresponding surface plots obtained from the developed models illustrate the effect of each process parameter on the considered responses. These plots will help the operator in selecting the best parametric mix to achieve enhanced coating quality. Also, analysis of variance results identifies the importance of each process parameter in the determination of response values. The proposed approach can be applied to various deposition processes for modeling and prediction of observed response values. It will also assist as an operator in selecting the best parametric mix for achieving desired response values.

Mechanical behaviors of artificial elastic tubes are studied to see if the fibre orientation in these vessels is optimal by comparison with those of human artery. By optimal we mean that the strengths of stretching and inflation in the vessels are equally good. Artificial thin film tubes have many applications in the food and fruit packing industry. In this paper, the wall of thin-film elastic tubes is considered as a fibre-reinforced membrane with two families of fibres and a uniform matrix material. Their mechanical properties are determined using a structure-based constitutive law. The constitutive parameters are inversely estimated from two separate uniaxial tensile tests in the circumferential and longitudinal directions. The inflation model for the elastic tubes and human common carotid artery are developed to investigate their breaking characteristics, and to explore the optimal fibre orientations. Results show that the fibre orientation has an important effect on the break behavior of the elastic tubes, and the tubes investigated are much weaker in the circumferential direction. On the other hand, the fibre orientation is close to the optimal state in the human common carotid artery.

In this research an electrode-set is used to investigate via an ultra-precise method for the removal of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin-film microstructure from defective display panels to conquer the low yield rate in display panel production as to from imperfect Indium Tin Oxide layer deposition is well known. This process, which involves the removal of ITO layer substructure by means of an electrochemical removal (ECMR), is of major interest to the optoelectronics semiconductor industry. In this electro machining process a high current flow and high feed rate of the display (color filter) achieves complete and efficient removal of the ITO layer. The ITO thin-film can be removed completely by a proper combination of feed rate and electric power. A small gap between the diameter cathode virtual rotation circle and the diameter virtual rotation circle also corresponds to a higher removal rate. A small anode edge radius with a small cathode edge radius effectively improves dregs discharge and is an advantage when associated with a high workpiece feed rate. This precision method for the recycling of defective display screen color filters is presented as an effective tool for use in the screen manufacturing process. The defective Indium Tin Oxide thin-film can be removed easily and cleanly in a short time. The complete removal of the ITO layer makes it possible to put these panels back into the production line for reuse with a considerable reduction of both waste and production cost.
