Professor K K Phua

Prof. K K Phua - Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Chairman and Editor-in-Chief
Professor Kok Khoo Phua is the Founding Director and Emeritus Professor of the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Adjunct Professor of Department of Physics at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He is also Adjunct Professor of Department of Physics at National University of Singapore (NUS). He is the Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of World Scientific Publishing Co Pte Ltd.

He was awarded the Doctor of Science (this is not the same as honorary degree) from University of Birmingham for his contributions in physics and education. His PhD is also from University of Birmingham. Together with Nobel Laureate Professor C N Yang and other senior physicists, he is one of the founding council members of the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Society (AAPPS). He is also the Secretary General of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) since 2014 which is under UNESCO Paris, founding President of South East Asia Theoretical Physics Association (SEATPA) and founding President of the incorporated ASEAN Federation of Physics Societies (AFPS).

Professor Phua is an Advisory Board Member of Singapore-China Association for Advanced Science & Technology. For his contributions to research and education in physics, he was elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) in 2009 and was awarded the IPS President's Award by the Institute of Physics Singapore (IPS) Council in 2006.

In recognition of his contribution to physics and scientific publishing, he has been conferred as the Si Yuan Guest Professorship by the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and the Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS) Fellowship in 2014. He is an Honorary Professor at Nankai University (Department of Theoretical Physics) and also holding a number of honorary professorships in China.
