Book Series: Series on Innovation in Structures and Construction

The book series on "Series on Innovation in Structures and Construction" is edited by Amr S Elnashai, Professor of Earthquake Engineering and Head of the Earthquake Engineering Section at Imperial College, London, UK, and Professor Patrick J. Dowling, Vice-Chancellor and Cheif Executive of the University of Surrey, UK. The series aim to bring to a wide engineering audience new developments in design, construction, assessment and upgrading of civil engineering works. The innovative elements may be the use of a new material, alternative use of an existing material or a new concept being applied to design or construction. The two editors strive to select authors who are internationally recognised for their expertise in the subject area, and draw clear terms of reference, in discussion with prospective authors, for individual contributions in order that a coherent book series may emerge. Future volumes of the series will deal with applications of high strength steel and concrete in construction, performance of civil engineering structures other than buildings and modern trends in seismic design and assessment.
