The existing reports (e.g., IMD, WEF) on national competitiveness and rankings are flawed because they are not based on rigorous analytical models and appropriate methodologies. In this book series, theoretical and methodological problems of existing studies are corrected. Specifically, the book series introduces a range of tools for assessing national competitiveness.

MASI (Measure-Analyze-Simulate-Implement) is the foundation on which this book series addresses policy implications for enhancing national competitiveness. The MASI approach includes (1) the Double Diamond-based Nine-factor Model for measuring national competitiveness (Measure); (2) the 3 by 3 framework for classifying country groups (Analyze); (3) an application of business strategy models (e.g., cost vs. differentiation) to the analysis of national competitiveness (Simulate); (4) suggestions of appropriate strategies, depending on terms and priorities (Implement).

The analytical tools of this book series can also be utilized for other units of analysis, such as industry and firm. As this book series provides a range of sophisticated methodologies and specific guidelines for enhancing national competitiveness, both academicians and practitioners will find useful insights and implications from this research.
