The correlation between learning styles in a classroom and suitable tools to facilitate learning directly affect learning outcomes Characteristics of students nowadays have been changed by the modern world of technology. Generation Z students have a different concept of what is interesting, challenging and satisfying which in turn, affects learning outcomes. Thus, to achieve a better learning outcome, a suitable learning style and tool to support learning are needed. This paper aims to research and test learning outcomes of students who studied the subject of rapid application development, which was a computational application development course. Two groups of students used two different learning styles: the active learning style and traditional style. The results show a statistical analysis, which was used to compare the learning outcomes and student’s satisfaction. The active learning style indicates that those students who used this had a higher level of effective learning than the students who studied traditionally. Regarding analysis, the learning outcomes and satisfaction of the two learning styles are discussed.

Collaborating with public research organizations (PROs) helps SMEs acquire the knowledge and skills they need to successfully innovate. But do they also help SMEs reduce their exposure to involuntary knowledge misappropriation and legitimacy deficits? Building from transaction economics and population ecology theories, we hypothesize that innovative SMEs collaborate with PROs to not only co-develop knowledge, but also to mitigate the risk that knowledge will be misappropriated from larger firms as well as to build overall organizational legitimacy. Binary and ordinal regression analyses using the EIM Technology Panel including 779 innovative SMEs in the Netherlands reveal that some of the variations in SME innovation partnership behavior may indeed be explained by efforts to avoid knowledge misappropriation and gain endorsements and affiliation with highly legitimate PROs.

Research on the lead user method has been conducted for more than thirty years and has shown that the method is more likely to generate breakthrough innovation than traditional market research tools. Based on a systematic literature review, this paper shows a detailed view on the broad variety of research on lead user characteristics, lead user processes, lead user identification and application, and success factors. The main challenge of the lead user method as identified in literature is the resource issue regarding time, manpower, and costs. Also, internal acceptance and the processing of the method have been spotted in literature, as well as the intellectual property protection issue. From the starting point of the initial lead user method process introduced by Lüthje and Herstatt (2004), results are integrated into a revisited view on the lead user method process. In addition, concrete suggestions for corporate realization options are given. The article closes with limitations and future research suggestions.

Information technology (IT) plays a significant role on a highly information-intensive industry like tourism industry globally and dramatically. Virtual enterprise (VE) concept is an innovation that enables small tourism enterprises (STEs) in developing countries to offer effective tourism services without large investment in IT. As STEs operate their VEs based on cloud-sourcing environment, STEs have to deal with IT risks that may affect the entire organization. As almost all STEs are found lacking in IT management experience, it is not effective to apply traditional IT governance frameworks, such as Control objectives for information and related technologies (COBIT), IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and International organization for standardization (ISO). This study proposes an IT governance framework for STEs operating in VE concept with cloud-sourcing environment. The methodology began with multiple-case study research via semi-structure interviews. Subjects are IT leaders from 10 STEs. IT governance framework for STEs was derived from the interview results, the framework consists of five IT governance areas: Strategy, Administration, Technology and Infrastructure, Supply, and Human Resource. This study also proposed performance assessment criteria for assessing IT governance performance. The proposed assessment criteria were integrated from relevance criteria in COBIT, ISO38500, ITIL, and previous research. STEs can adopt the proposed framework in their VEs to ensure the achievement of effectiveness and efficiency of their services in virtual environment. This will eventually guarantee their continued success in tourism services at present and in the future.

In the last years, management scholars have looked into the phenomenon of disruptive innovation, mostly focusing on the characteristics that identify a disruptive innovation and on the managerial solutions that incumbent firms should adopt to respond to the threat of a disruptive innovation. However, studying the characteristics of the context in which a disruptive innovation unfolds remains an under-researched topic. To fill this gap, this exploratory study examines how the disruptive innovation phenomenon is influenced by a set of variables that shape the context in which it takes place. This is done through a historical analysis of Uber, a widely discussed example of disruptive innovation. The exploratory analysis suggests that the extant regulatory framework plays a key role in influencing the impact that Uber has had on the taxi industry. By doing so, the paper points to the importance — for future researchers — to study disruptive innovation by carefully placing it in the regulatory context in which it takes place, given the importance that this aspect plays in influencing the anatomy of the disruption phenomenon.

This paper proposes a framework for classification of innovative activities in production systems based on corresponding calculated risk intensity using decision tree method. A three-step process is developed. The basis of the framework is the innovative activities collected from the literature. These activities are collected from the related literature and are classified by decision tree based on Gini Index. The configured tree is then used to extract and compose rules applying rule mining technique. The resulting rules can be useful sources of information for managers, investors and predictors of innovation domain to take the appropriate approaches for innovation risk management and innovation investment.

Mobile business ecosystems are based on product innovations and complements created on platforms facilitating transactions between groups of users in a multi-sided market. The purpose of this research is to present a model of success factors (SF) of mobile ecosystems. This research establishes an empirical framework based on the Android ecosystem, which has been analyzed in-depth on firm and ecosystem level, identifying 16 success factors. The main theoretical contribution is a model that identifies SF of platforms, which are related to the identification of the role of users and complementors in increasing innovation success. The model advances research in innovation platforms.

The paper investigates the relationship between investment in research and development (R&D), innovation expenses, and productivity of manufacturing companies. These empirical results have shown that innovation investments (1) improve the performance of industrial companies with the elasticity of 0.09; (2) innovation investment has an impact on the performance of the company, and the extent of this impact depends on the value of R&D investment and has a range of elasticity ranging from 0.03 (for low volumes of R&D investment) to 0.16 in high volumes of R&D investment; (3) the relationship between innovation investment and the growth of performance is nonlinear in nature and has a strong positive relationship only after a critical mass of innovation investment has been reached; (4) a significant role in the relationship of innovation investment and productivity is played by the features of the industry in which the company operates (the companies that operate in high-tech industries not only invest more in R&D and innovation but also have a better performance due to research and development); (5) companies of low-tech industries have a negative elasticity of innovation investment and productivity, which is due to the influence of unprofitable innovation investments (appropriability effect), i.e. additional profits from the investment are not significant.

This paper presents the initial results of a project to investigate the organizational antecedents of entrepreneurship at public research and technology institutions (RTIs) in Iran. In line with the policies of the government to increase the role of publicly funded R&D in solving the problems of domestic industry, the research centers within public RTIs are encouraged to direct their research efforts towards practical applications, thus creating value from their R&D efforts. We chose to utilize a widely-used construct from corporate entrepreneurship literature (Entrepreneurial Orientation, EO) to explain undeniable differences among these research centers in their success in academic entrepreneurship. Noting that EO is a context-sensitive construct, the items to measure EO in research centers were generated by in-depth interviews; and the relationship between the contextualized EO and financial performances of research centers was investigated. The results confirmed a notable association between the EO level of research centers and their financial performance.

The aim of this study was to develop a research-based mobile application to increase perceived knowledge of Thai adolescents on cyberbullying. The proposed mobile application is called Cyberbullying Mobile Application (CBMA) which is the first research-based CBMA developed in Thailand. The research focused on the lack of adolescent perceived knowledge on the above, at the undergraduate level. Two hundred and fifty-three samples were surveyed from high schools and universities. After releasing the CBMA for real use to the same group of users as the samples, the study found that users appreciated it and had confidence in the application; while in some cases, users claimed they would use it in their lives. The CBAM and questionnaire outcomes were analyzed by using independent sample $t$-test analysis on $R$ program to test hypothesis. Therefore, the CBMA is an appropriate tool recommended for adolescents to educate themselves to handle and be aware of cyberbullying.
