Software defined network (SDN) controller selection in SDN is a key challenge to the network administrator. In SDN, control plane is an isolated process and operate on control layer. The controller provides a universal view of the entire network and support applications and services. The three focused parameters for controller selection are productivity, campus network and open source. In SDN, it is vital to have a good device for the efficient processing of all requests made by the switch and for good behavior of the network. For selecting best controller for the specified parameters, decision logic has to be developed that allow us to do comparison of the available controllers. Therefore, in this research we have suggested a methodology that uses analytic-hierarchy-process (AHP) to find a best controller. The approach has been studied and verified for a big organization network setup of Al-Majmaah University, Saudi Arabia. The approach is found to be more effective and increase the network performance significantly.

In idea creation and assessment processes, the accruement and the description of an idea are mostly allocated to a fixed point in time, defined as the end of the generating process and the start of the idea assessment. This static approach does not fit the reality in industrial idea processes. A dynamic approach for idea assessment is therefore introduced. An idea is not seen as a static but as a dynamic state, characterized by different degrees of maturity. Maturity is understood as a measure of the assessability of the individual evaluation characteristics.

Based on Crosby’s maturity model and classical capability maturity models, a new idea maturity model (IMM) has been developed and is introduced for the first time. The five idea maturity levels (IML) are named Initial, Awareness, Appraisability, Valuation and Realizability and harmonize well with other maturity models. The levels are described by general characteristics, although the development of the maturity model focussed on new product or service development. The compatibility of the IMM with idea assessment processes and conditions in organizations and companies has been checked.

Organizational research describes the inherent tension between innovation, as a means to adapt to environmental change, and continuing to do what one does well and what current customers appreciate. Managing this tension successfully leads to so-called ambidexterity. How to achieve it is still a matter of debate: proponents of structural approaches recommend a separation of exploration and exploitation, while proponents of so-called contextual ambidexterity suggest that contextual factors such as culture and process are equal if not more critical in leading the organization to ambidexterity. Based on the findings of empirical ambidexterity research, many more factors are suggested, though they are rarely researched in an ambidexterity context nor are the interdependencies between the factors and the known ambidexterity strategies described. To guide future research, this paper develops an expanded and system-focused framework for achieving ambidexterity. It is used to review and integrate findings from organizational theory and neighboring disciplines, including project management theories, knowledge management theories, human resource management theories, and open and distributed innovation theories. Managerial implications are discussed and illustrated with a case example. The resulting work provides the basis for explicitly modeling the drivers and inhibitors of exploration and exploitation and their interdependencies. In future research, this can be used to better understand and overcome conflicting objectives, devise new approaches for achieving ambidexterity, and ultimately design more successful organizations.

Systematic Review of Literature is done by this research with the purpose that it could be possible to analyze the existent interaction between exploration and exploitation that leads organizations to become ambidextrous ones. That is to say, that they have the faculty to look for opportunities at the same time they work to obtain a good performance in their daily activities. The methodology was based on a documentary review, through a chronological reading. The investigation was made using articles that deal with the issue of ambidextrous organizations, based on the Scopus scientific database, published between 2006 and 2016.

The purpose of this paper is to contribute to understanding innovation dynamics in services, in particular the link between innovation and productivity. A methodology to explain this link is suggested. Instead of establishing a single, direct connection between innovation and labor productivity, as in earlier approaches in the services literature, a simultaneous equations model is used. We put forward an extended version of the CDM (Crepon, Duguet and Mairesse) model, incorporating two feedback effects and using innovation activities rather than the more restrictive R&D proxy. Activities prior to the innovation implementation are also taken into account allowing for direct and indirect effects on labor productivity. Moreover, we discuss and handle the oftentimes overlooked methodological problems affecting this relationship. Micro data for ten service sectors in Portugal are used to estimate the model. The existence of a Schumpeterian virtuous cycle is confirmed, pointing to a mechanism reinforcing innovation investment returns. We find that innovation activities have a positive impact on labor productivity, but no evidence was found of a significant direct effect of innovation output. Labor productivity also improves with management capabilities. Relationships with customers, suppliers and cooperation partnerships significantly increase the probability of innovating, suggesting that stimulating organizational networking is a key element in a service firm’s innovation strategy.

The founders of startups in Sergipe state, Brazil, began to unite in 2012, with a purpose of strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the state. The aim of this paper was to deepen the knowledge about the entrepreneurs’ movement entitled “Caju Valley”, in order to propose measures to strengthen the group. From the analysis realized, it was possible to observe that the Caju Valley group, although being important to the startups’ ecosystem, still suffers due to the lack of balance between the various stakeholders, and also faces the lack of maturity of the entrepreneurs, timid or suspicious investors, accelerators without effective action and incubators with low effectivity.

The objective of this paper is to verify how investments in R&D influence the measures of performance (sales and operating profit) of companies. Based on the EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard, a 2003–2013 information panel was developed for 548 companies. Regression with panel data and Quantile Regression were used. The results indicate that investments in R&D positively influence sales and operating profit of companies as a whole, varies according to the R&D intensity when companies are analyzed in groups and that the distance from the frontier influences the relationship between R&D and performance. The companies of the upper quantiles have better relation R&D and profit than the companies more distant from the frontier. Companies with higher profit can transform R&D investments more efficiently into profit.

The variance in users’ characteristics, according to demographic factors, is crucial in segmenting retail banking customers and making marketing decisions. Therefore, the effects of these factors should be examined to help IT providers enhance m-banking services. This study seeks to build a conceptual model that determines the moderating influence of demographic factors on the customer’s intention to adopt m-banking. A questionnaire was distributed in Saudi Arabia and the responses were analyzed through a structural equation modeling (SEM) approach. The study finds that users’ demographic characteristics, such as age, education, and income, but not gender, played a moderating role in their adoption of m-banking services.
