This review of the quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the early universe cosmological phase transition from the quark–gluon plasma (QGP) to our present universe (QCDPT), relativistic heavy ion collisions (RHIC) which can produce the QGP, the possible detection of the QGP produced by the production of mixed hybrid heavy quark mesons. We also review the recent studies of the production of mixed heavy quark hybrids via RHIC and heavy quark meson suppression in p-Pb and Pb–Pb collisions.

Multiparticle states with additional pions are expected to be a non-negligible source of excited-state contamination in lattice simulations at the physical point. It is shown that baryon chiral perturbation theory can be employed to calculate the contamination due to two-particle nucleon–pion-states in various nucleon observables. Leading order results are presented for the nucleon axial, tensor and scalar charge and three Mellin moments of parton distribution functions (quark momentum fraction, helicity and transversity moment). Taking into account phenomenological results for the charges and moments the impact of the nucleon–pion-states on lattice estimates for these observables can be estimated. The nucleon–pion-state contribution results in an overestimation of all charges and moments obtained with the plateau method. The overestimation is at the 5–10% level for source-sink separations of about 2 fm. The source-sink separations accessible in contemporary lattice simulations are found to be too small for chiral perturbation theory to be directly applicable.

We have recently proposed a quark and lepton mass matrix model based on U(3)×U(3)${}^{\prime }$ family symmetry as the so-called Yukawaon model, in which the U(3) symmetry is broken by VEVs of flavons ${({\mathrm{\Phi }}_f)}_i{}^{\alpha }$ which are $(3,3^{\ast })$ of U(3)×U(3)${}^{\prime }$. The model has successfully provided the unified description of quark and lepton masses and mixings by using the observed charged lepton masses as only family-number dependent input parameters. However, our final goal is not only to give well-satisfied fitting of quark and lepton masses and mixings, but also to investigate physics behind such a successful parameter fitting. Therefore, our next concern is scales of VEVs of the flavons because we have not paid attention to scales of flavons in the previous study. In order to give consistency among the scales, the previous flavon model is drastically changed together with economizing number of the flavons, but with keeping previous phenomenological success. We estimate that VEVs of flavons with $(8+1,1)$, $(3,3^{\ast })$ and $(1,8+1)$ are of the orders of 10 TeV, 10⁴ TeV and 10⁷ TeV, respectively.

In this paper, we study the consistency of having Lorentz invariance as a low energy approximation within the quantum field theory framework. A model with a scalar and a fermion field is used to show how a Lorentz invariance violating high momentum scale, a physical cutoff rendering the quantum field theory finite, can be made compatible with a suppression of Lorentz invariance violations at low momenta. The fine tuning required to get this suppression and to have a light scalar particle in the spectrum are determined at one loop.

We study the propagation of electromagnetic (EM) waves in extremely dense exotic systems with very unique properties. These EM waves develop a longitudinal component due to interactions with the medium. Renormalization scheme of QED is used to understand the propagation of EM waves in both longitudinal and transverse directions. The propagation of EM waves in a quantum statistically treatable medium affects the properties of the medium itself. The electric permittivity and the magnetic permeability of the medium are modified and influence the related behavior of the medium. All the electromagnetic properties of a medium become a function of temperature and chemical potential of the medium. We study in detail the modifications of electric permittivity and magnetic permeability and other related properties of a medium in the superdense stellar objects.

In this study, to investigate the very nature of quantum black holes, we try to relate three independent studies: (q, p)-deformed Fermi gas model, Verlinde’s entropic gravity proposal and Strominger’s quantum black holes obeying the deformed statistics. After summarizing Strominger’s extremal quantum black holes, we represent the thermostatistics of (q, p)-fermions to reach the deformed entropy of the (q, p)-deformed Fermi gas model. Since Strominger’s proposal claims that the quantum black holes obey deformed statistics, this motivates us to describe the statistics of quantum black holes with the (q, p)-deformed fermions. We then apply the Verlinde’s entropic gravity proposal to the entropy of the (q, p)-deformed Fermi gas model which gives the two-parameter deformed Einstein equations describing the gravitational field equations of the extremal quantum black holes obeying the deformed statistics. We finally relate the obtained results with the recent study on other modification of Einstein equations obtained from entropic quantum corrections in the literature.

We investigate an asymptotically spatially flat Robertson–Walker space–time from two different perspectives. First, using von Neumann entropy, we evaluate the entanglement generation due to the encoded information in space–time. Then, we work out the entropy of particle creation based on the quantum thermodynamics of the scalar field on the underlying space–time. We show that the general behavior of both entropies are the same. Therefore, the entanglement can be applied to the customary quantum thermodynamics of the universe. Also, using these entropies, we can recover some information about the parameters of space–time.

In this paper, we deform the thermodynamics of a BTZ black hole from rainbow functions in gravity’s rainbow. The rainbow functions will be motivated from the results in loop quantum gravity and noncommutative geometry. It will be observed that the thermodynamics gets deformed due to these rainbow functions, indicating the existence of a remnant. However, the Gibbs free energy does not get deformed due to these rainbow functions, and so the critical behavior from Gibbs does not change by this deformation. This is because the deformation in the entropy cancels out the temperature deformation.

Motivated by the new theoretical paradigm that views space–time geometry as emerging from the entanglement of a pre-geometric theory, we investigate the issue of the signature of the presence of horizons and localized matter on the entanglement entropy (EE) $S_E$ for the case of three-dimensional AdS (AdS₃) gravity. We use the holographically dual two-dimensional CFT on the torus and the related modular symmetry in order to treat bulk black holes and conical singularities (sourced by pointlike masses not shielded by horizons) on the same footing. In the regime where boundary tori can be approximated by cylinders, we are able to give universal expressions for the EE of black holes and conical singularities. We argue that the presence of horizons/localized matter in the bulk is encoded in the EE in terms of (i) enhancement/reduction of the entanglement of the AdS₃ vacuum, (ii) scaling as area/volume of the leading term of the perturbative expansion of $S_E$, (iii) exponential/periodic behavior of $S_E$ and (iv) presence of unaccessible regions in the noncompact/compact dimension of the boundary cylinder. In particular, we show that the reduction effect of matter on the entanglement of the vacuum found by Verlinde for the de Sitter vacuum extends to the AdS₃ vacuum.

The Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) implies the existence of a physical minimum length scale $l_m$. In this scenario, black holes must have a radius larger than $l_m$. They are hotter and evaporate faster than in standard Hawking thermodynamics. We study the effects of the GUP on black hole production and decay at the LHC in models with large extra dimensions. Lower bounds on the fundamental Planck scale and the minimum black hole mass at formation are determined from black hole production cross-section limits by the CMS Collaboration. The existence of a minimum length generally decreases the lower bounds on the fundamental Planck scale obtained in the absence of a minimum length.

We have extended a recent approach to Deformed Special Relativity based on deformed dispersion laws, entailing modified Lorentz transformations and, at the same time, noncommutative geometry and intrinsically discrete space–time. In so doing we have obtained the explicit form of the modified Lorentz transformations for a special class of modified momentum-energy relations often found in literature and arising from quantum gravity and elementary particle physics. Actually, our theory looks as a very simple and natural extension of special relativity to include a momentum cutoff at the Planck scale. In particular, the new Lorentz transformations do imply that for high boost speed $(V\sim c)$ the deformed Lorentz factor does not diverge as in ordinary relativity, but results to be upper bounded by a large finite value of the order of the ratio between the Planck mass and the particle mass. We have also predicted that a generic boost leaves unchanged Planck energy and momentum, which result invariant with respect to any reference frame. Finally, through matrix deformation functions, we have extended our theory to more general cases with dispersion laws containing momentum-energy mixed terms.

We compute the boundary state corresponding to a fractional Dp-brane with transverse motion and internal background fields: Kalb–Ramond and a U(1) gauge field. The space–time has the orbifold structure ${ℝ}^{1,5}\times {ℂ}^2/{\mathbb{Z}}_2$. The calculations are in the superstring theory. Using this boundary state we shall obtain the interaction amplitude between two parallel moving fractional Dp-branes. We shall extract behavior of the interaction amplitude for large distances of the branes.
