THE ZEBRA SPINY EEL (MACROGNATHUS ZEBRINUS) — A NON-NATIVE SPECIES IN SINGAPORE (SYNBRANCHIFORMES: MASTACEMBELIDAE)

      COSMOS01 Aug 2010

More information on the distribution of the zebra spiny eel (Macrognathus zebrinus), a non-native species recently recorded in Singapore, is provided in this study. The spiny eel is known from four reservoirs (Kranji, Lower Peirce, Lower Seletar, and Tengeh) on the island. The presence of large numbers of this species in the Kranji and Lower Seletar reservoirs indicates that the zebra spiny eel is now established in Singapore.

ENTANGLEMENT PROTECTION AND GENERATION IN A TWO-ATOM SYSTEM

Entanglement is a fundamental concept in Quantum Mechanics. In this paper, we study various aspects of coherence and entanglement, illustrated by several examples. We relate the concepts of loss of coherence and disentanglement, via a model of two two-level atoms in different types of reservoir, including both cases of independent and common bath. We also relate decoherence and disentanglement, by focussing on the sudden death of the entanglement and the dependence of the death time with the "distance" of our initial condition, from the decoherence free subspace. In particular, we study the "sudden death of the entanglement", in a two-atom system with a common reservoir. Finally we study the creation of entanglement under various initial conditions.
