Noam Lemelshtrich Latar (NLL) is the Founding Dean of the School of Communications at IDC Herzliya (Israel's first private university), which has been the site of pioneering experiments in employing cutting-edge communications technologies to synergize journalism, robotics, virtual reality, augmented reality art and conflict resolution.
NLL served as the Chairperson of the Israeli Communi-cations Association (ISCA) from 2009 to 2012. He received a Ph.D. in Communications from MIT in 1974, M.Sc. from Stanford in 1971, and a B.Sc. in Engi-neering from California State University Northridge (summa cum laude).
He was among the founders of the Community Dialogue Project at MIT, experimenting with interactive commu-nications involving communities through electronic means. NLL pioneered the papers on touch-screen feed-back for interactive TV, on new media and cybernetic decision making, on digital identities (Social DNA), and on Artificial Intelligence robotics in journalism.
Lemelshtrich Latar initiated the teaching and research of new media at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at Tel-Aviv University, and was involved in the Israeli high-tech industry, establishing several communications startups in cognitive enhancement that employ comput-er algorithms and data mining for the creation of digital consumer profiles.
Lemelshtrich Latar is the Chair of the Daniel Pearl International Journalism Institute. His current research interests are the effects of artificial intelligence on media and journalism and the potential of art to create dialogue across cultures.

Amir Ruskin spends much of his time on his motorcycle and is al-ways waiting to go outdoors with his Jeep ... Amir specializes in Information and Analytics technologies and Strategies. Gaining long years' experience in some of the largest and more complex organizations in Israel and Europe, Amir has vast experience in data and analytics challenges, from BI to AI.
Amir has led organizational changes related to decision-making processes, performance management and every-thing relating to management by facts. His achieve-ments include forming the Information and Statistics Division in the Central Bank of Israel, the Global Infor-mation Center in Teva Pharmaceuticals, as well as additional major revolutions in some of the largest organizations in Israel and Europe (Air France, Texaco, Bank Hapoalim, C.A.L. to name few) as well as emerging new economy global hi-tech companies such as Credorax.
Amir is heavily involved in the Israeli startup nation; he was co-founder of HyperRoll Inc. in the 2000s (acquired by Oracle in 2009) and, lately, co-founder of Shoodoo Analytics, a Data Science-as-a-Service platform, which was funded by Israel's Innovation Authority as part of a national incubator.
Amir graduated from the Israeli army computer science school ("Mamram"), has academic degrees in Computer Science, Economics and Human Resources. Amir is also a certified Mediator.
Dr. Doron Friedman is a professor at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications and head of the Advanced Reality Lab (http://avl.idc.ac.il). His PhD thesis, carried out in Computer Science in Tel-Aviv University, studied automated cinematography in virtual environments. He continued as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics Lab at University College London, working on controlling highly immersive virtual reality by thought, using brain-computer interfaces. In addition to his academic research Doron has also worked as an entrepreneur in the areas of intelligent systems and Internet, and his inventions are the basis of several patents and commercial products.
Since 2008 Dr. Friedman and his lab members were involved in several national and international projects in the areas of telepresence, virtual reality, and advanced human-computer interfaces. His research is highly multi-disciplinary, and has been published in top scientific journals and peer reviewed conferences, including Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction, Journal of Neural Engineering, Journal of Neuroscience, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS). The lab's research is often covered by national and international media outlets, including CNN, BBC, New Scientist, National Geographic, and Scientific American.
Ms Candice Kotzen, the research assistant of Dr. Friedman. is a graduate of the Sammy Ofer School of Communications at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, specializing in Interactive Communications. Ms Kotzen is currently doing research toward a master's of Arts at the Bob Shapell School of Social Work at Tel-Aviv University, specializing in Trauma and Crisis.
Dr. Gali Einav is Head of the "Upstart" Entrepreneurship Minor Track program at the Adelson School of entrepreneurship at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya. She holds a PhD in Interactive Television from Columbia University and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Digital Media at IDC Herzliya since 2008 and at Yeshiva University's master's in Marketing program since 2016. Dr. Einav's research interests include the impact of digital transformation on media industries and consumer behavior. She is an Advisory Board member for Nielsen Innovate, an early stage investment arm of Nielsen. Previously, she worked in the Business Planning and Development team at Canoe Ventures, a consortium of US cable operators developing interactive ad formats for live television. Prior to that, Dr. Einav led the Digital Insights and Innovations Research group at NBC Universal, overseeing strategic, business and consumer research across digital platforms.
Nathan Lipson is the founder and CEO of Perpetix, a startup that's building the first global publisher-to-publisher syndication network. Before that, for almost 17 years, Lipson was a correspondent and an editor at TheMarker, Israel's leading business publication, and writes commentary for journal. He was a researcher at the Bank of Israel's research department. Nathan has a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an M.B.A, from Tel-Aviv University. He co-authors papers on news-related technologies. Lipson's main areas of interest are internet, media and new technologies.
Yair Galily, Ph.D. is an applied sociologist, mass media and management researcher and founder of the Sport, Media and Society (SMS) Research Lab at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications, Interdisciplinary Cen-ter (IDC) Herzliya. His research interests lie in the area of sociology of sport and especially sport and mass media. He has collaborated actively with researchers from around the world in several other academic disciplines. Recently he guest-edited numerous leading international journals, among them American Behavioral Scientist ("Sport and Global Terrorism" Sage, 2016), Television & New Media ("Soccer World Cup and Television" Sage, 2015), and Online Information Review ("Texting, tweeting and playing: sporting mega events in an online environment" Emerald, 2016). Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Galily serves as chief (Organizational and Instructional) sociologist of the Israel Defense Forces Combat Fitness Center.
