Chapter 14: PERÚ: A Look at the History of Mathematics and Mathematics Education

In this chapter we present fundamental aspects of the history of mathematics in Perú — as an academic activity — begun at the National University of San Marcos. We highlight the importance of providing an adequate mathematical training for primary school teachers, and describe several initiatives that have been developed to address that, and to improve mathematics education in general, parallel to the development of mathematics in our country.
