The “Belt and Road” Sustainable Cooperation

Aims & Scope:
The Belt and Road Initiative is a path of win-win cooperation to promote common development and prosperity, and a path of peace and friendship to enhance mutual understanding and trust and enhance all-round exchanges. The Chinese government proposes to uphold the principles of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, promote practical cooperation on all fronts, and build a community of shared interests, shared future and shared responsibilities featuring political mutual trust, economic integration and cultural inclusiveness. China-Africa cooperation is an important part of The Belt and Road Initiative. In recent decades, China and Africa have promoted common development through mutual benefit and win-win results. Nowadays, China-Africa cooperation is entering a new stage of upgrading and ushering in more development opportunities. China advocates win-win cooperation, attaches importance to green, low-carbon and sustainable development, and is committed to build a China-Africa community with a shared future. China has put forward the goal of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”, vigorously promoted the green transformation of its economy and society, and adhered to the high-quality development path of ecological priority and low-carbon. China has made great progress in the fields of new energy vehicles and green power generation, laying a solid foundation for promoting green cooperation between China and Africa. Since the first Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was held in 2000, China has announced “Ten Cooperation Plans”, “Eight Actions” and “Nine Projects” with Africa, among which sustainable development is an important area of cooperation.

Therefore, this special issue is aimed at promoting research broadly related to the “Belt and Road” sustainable cooperation. The exploration of the sustainable cooperation among the “Belt and Road” countries are expected to have a profound impact on the international cooperation, sustainable development, green economy, innovative development and other fields.
