Special Issue on Technological Innovation for Environmental Management and Sustainable Development

Aims & Scope:
In recent decades, academics, policymakers, practitioners, and institutions have increasingly focused on environmental management and sustainable development due to the adverse effects of global warming and climate change, exacerbated by heightened energy consumption and deforestation resulting from rapid economic growth, urbanization, and industrialization. Thus, proposals for effective and innovative technologies and tools should focus on fostering environmentally responsible and sustainable behaviors. The United Nations launched the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to advance initiatives for global human well-being. Academics and practitioners pursue green technology innovation and strategies to attain the SDGs.

Despite much research initiating the examination of the correlation between technological innovation and environmental sustainability, there remains a deficiency in both theoretical and empirical insights necessary to comprehensively grasp the impact of technological innovation on environmental management and sustainable development. Additional research in these domains could enhance comprehension of the role of technological innovation in promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as in attaining the SDGs. It also offers opportunities for enhancing current theories on organizational mechanisms and innovative behaviors within the ongoing global climate crisis.

This Special Issue seeks to advance research pertaining to technological innovation in environmental management and sustainable development. Submissions of pertinent theoretical and empirical research papers on these subjects are encouraged.
