Noncommutative geometry, an offshoot of string theory, replaces point-like objects by smeared objects. The resulting uncertainty may cause a black hole to be observationally indistinguishable from a traversable wormhole, while the latter, in turn, may become observationally indistinguishable from a gravastar. The same noncommutative-geometry background allows the theoretical construction of thin-shell wormholes from gravastars and may even serve as a model for dark energy.

This paper studies the influence of charge on a compact stellar structure also regarded as vacuum condensate star in the background of $f(\Re ,{{𝒯}}^2)$ gravity. This object is considered the alternate of black hole whose structure involves three distinct regions, i.e. interior, exterior and thin-shell. We analyze these domains of a gravastar for a particular model of this modified theory. In the inner region of a gravastar, the considered equation of state defines that energy density is equal to negative pressure which is the cause of repulsive force on the spherical shell. In the intermediate shell, pressure and energy density are equal and contain ultra-relativistic fluid. The inward-directed gravitational pull of thin-shell counterbalances the force exerted by the inner region of a gravastar allowing the formation of a singularity-free object. The Reissner–Nordström metric presents the outer vacuum spherical domain. Moreover, we discuss the impact of the charge on physical attributes of a gravastar such as the equation of state parameter, entropy, proper length and energy. We conclude that singularity-free solutions of charged gravastar are physically consistent in this modified theory.

This paper is devoted to studying the structure of gravitationally vacuum condensate stars under the influence of matter and geometry coupled gravity. This alternative to black hole comprises three domains, i.e. interior, exterior and thin-shell. We investigate such regions by considering particular equations of state for a specific model of energy–momentum squared gravity. The nonsingular solutions of field equations are obtained to describe the interior region of gravastar and the Schwarzschild spacetime represents the exterior region. The junction conditions are used to match interior and exterior domains while Lanczos equations provide the surface density and pressure at thin-shell. We investigate various attributes of gravastar such as the equation of state parameter, entropy, proper length as well as energy. The physical features of a gravitationally vacuum star indicate a linear relationship with the thickness of the shell and provide a viable structure similar to general relativity.

This paper examines the structure of a gravitational vacuum star (also known as gravastar) in the background of $f(\Re ,{{𝒯}}^2)$ theory. This hypothetical object can be treated as a substitute of a black hole, with three regions: (i) the internal region, (ii) the intrinsic shell and (iii) the outer region. We examine these geometries using Finch–Skea metric for the radial metric component along with the particular $f(\Re ,{{𝒯}}^2)$ model. We determine singularity-free solutions for both the inner as well as thin-shell domains. The smooth matching of the interior region with external Schwarzschild spacetime is obtained through Israel matching constraints. Finally, we study various characteristics of gravastar domains including the equation-of-state parameter, proper length, entropy, energy as well as surface redshift. It is found that the compact gravastar structure is a viable alternate to the black hole in the perspective of this gravity.

In this paper, we study anisotropic spheres built from known static spherical solutions. In particular, we are interested in the physical consequences of a "small" departure from a physically sensible configuration. The obtained solutions smoothly depend on free parameters. By setting these parameters to zero, the starting seed solution is regained. We apply our procedure in detail by taking as seed solutions the Florides metrics, and the Tolman IV solution. We show that the chosen Tolman IV solution, and also the Heint IIa and Durg IV,V perfect fluid solutions, can be used to generate a class of parametric solutions where the anisotropic factor has features recalling boson stars. This is an indication that boson stars could emerge by "perturbing" appropriately a perfect fluid solution (at least for the seed metrics considered). Finally, starting with the Tolman IV, Heint IIa and Durg IV,V solutions, we build anisotropic gravastar-like sources with the appropriate boundary conditions.

Gravitational compact astrophysical objects are excellent laboratories to test the strong field regime of theories of gravity. Among these compact objects, lies the ultracompact class: stellar structures that possess a light ring (circular null geodesic). Such ultracompact stars were presented in literature in the earlier solutions of general relativity, and some are claimed to be good candidates to the supermassive objects present at the center of galaxies. In this paper, we present evidences for the claim that compact objects with a light ring should be black holes, based on the existence of long-lived modes obtained through a first-order perturbation theory. These first-order long-lived modes can source nonlinear terms which could turn the star unstable. We show, in particular, a comparison between modes computed through an exact direct integration and through the WKB approximation. Moreover, we present the time evolution of wavepackets for different field configurations. We conjecture some possible outcomes of the nonlinear instability. The discussion presented in this work complements our previous paper [Phys. Rev. D90 (2014) 044069].

This paper is aimed to set up a thin-shell gravastar model and address its physically accepted features in the background of noncommutative geometry. For this purpose, we have considered the cylindrically symmetric interior metric matched with suitable noncommutative exterior geometry using Israel boundary conditions. The stability of this thin-shell as well as thermodynamical stability is then explored under linear perturbations around the throat. We have found the stable regions near the horizon with some specific values of the involved parameters.

This paper examines the structure of gravastar (gravitationally vacuum star) in the background of $f(\Re ,{{𝒯}}^2)$ theory. The field equations are solved to evaluate nonsingular solutions of both the interior and intermediate regions. Inner as well as outer spacetimes are matched together using Israel formalism to obtain density and pressure at the joining surface. Different attributes of gravastar like the equation of state parameter, proper length, entropy and energy are analyzed through graphical behavior. It is found that the gravastar model is a viable alternative to the black hole in the context of this gravity.

In this work, a generalization of the Mazur-Mottola gravastar model is explored, by considering a matching of an interior solution governed by the dark energy equation of state, w ≡ p/ρ < -1/3, to an exterior Schwarzschild vacuum solution at a junction interface, situated near to where the event horizon is expected to form. The motivation for implementing this generalization arises from the fact that recent observations have confirmed an accelerated cosmic expansion, for which dark energy is a possible candidate.

We investigate the newtonian stationary accretion of a polytropic perfect fluid onto a central body with a hard surface. The selfgravitation of the fluid and its interaction with luminosity is included in the model. We find that for a given luminosity, asymptotic mass and temperature of the fluid there exist two solutions with different cores.

In this parallel session recent work concerning the analysis of boson star properties as well as boson star representations in specific spacetimes is considered. This includes e.g. all issues related to the global structure and the physical interpretation of these objects. Furthermore, presentations of work within the framework of black hole mimickers (e.g. wormholes and gravastars) are of great interest within this framework.

We develop an extremely general and robust framework that can be adapted to wide classes of generic spherically symmetric thin-shell gravastars. The thin shell (transition layer) will be permitted to move freely in the bulk spacetimes, permitting a fully dynamic analysis. This will then allow us to perform a general stability analysis, where it is explicitly shown that the gravastar stability is related to the properties of the matter residing in the thin-shell transition layer.
