Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines for Authors

The Journal of Business and Economic Analysis (JBEA) is an international and interdisciplinary journal dedicated to improve existing knowledge and understanding in the fields of business, management, economics, accounting and finance. Please refer to the journal’s aims & scope on our special focus research areas.

Journal of Business and Economics Analysis (JBEA) considers all manuscripts on the following conditions:

  • the manuscript is in English
  • the manuscript contains original and unpublished work
  • the manuscript is not under consideration or peer review or accepted for publication elsewhere
JBEA adopts the double-blind review process to ensure the incisive and impartial analysis of the articles.

Manuscript Preparation
The manuscript should be compiled in the following order: first page (including title, the name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s), abstract, keywords); main body: introduction, relevant literature, methodology, results, discussion; references; appendices (as appropriate).

Please exclude any author information when submitting “Manuscript (no author info)”. Authors must ensure that their manuscript and accompanying files do not give away their identities.

Typing Format
The manuscript should be provided in Microsoft Word format.

Use Times New Roman font in size 12 with double-line spacing.

Margins should be at least 2.5cm (1 inch).

Article length/word count
The manuscript should be between 8000 and 12000 words, including tables, references and appendices.

Title
Use bold for your article title, with an initial capital letter for any proper nouns.

Abstract
The first page of the manuscript should include a one-paragraph abstract not exceeding 150 words. Do not include references, footnotes, or abbreviations in the abstract.

Keywords
Up to five keywords should be included in the first page.

Headings
Headings should be concise, and illustrates the level of the headings:

  1. First-level headings should be in bold, with an initial capital letter for any proper nouns.
  2. Second-level headings should be in bold italics, with an initial capital letter for any proper nouns.
  3. Third-level headings should be in italics, with an initial capital letter for any proper nouns.
  4. Fourth-level headings should be in bold italics, at the beginning of a paragraph. The text follows immediately after a full stop (full point) or other punctuation mark.
Figures
All figures should be high quality (1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale and 300 dpi for colour, at the correct size) and in either EPS, PS, JPEG, TIFF, or figures drawn using Microsoft Word.

Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals and have clear captions. For example;

Tables
Tables should be typed and submitted in a separate file to the main body of the article.

The position of each table should be clearly indicated in the manuscript with corresponding labels clearly shown in the table file.

Tables should be numbered consecutively in Roman numerals (e.g. I, II, etc.), accompanied by titles. For example;

Table I. Social media users by the different platforms.

Equations
Math equations should be typed as editable text and not as images.

References
Author(s) should ensure accuracy and completeness of the list of references.

JBEA uses the APA referencing style for in text citation and the reference list.

References should be cited in the text according to the APA reference system. Please consult the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. For more information about APA style, visit https://apastyle.apa.org/ and https://apastyle.apa.org/blog

  • In-text citations:
    Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Sources cited or referred to in the text should indicate the author's surname and year of publication.

    Multiple citations within parentheses should be arranged chronologically, separated by a semi-colon. For example;

    (Fitzpatrick & Gauthier, 2001; Darus et al., 2013; Bashir, et al. 2015)

    If there is more than one publication in the same year by the author(s), place a and b, and so on, after the year. For example;

    (Nguyen et al., 2020a; Nguyen et al., 2020b)

  • Reference list:
    All in-text citations must be listed in full in the reference list at the end of the article.
