This paper provides a systematic comparison between two well-known Agile methodologies: Scrum, which is a framework of doing projects by allocating tasks into small stages called sprints, and Kanban, which is a scheduling system to manage the flow of work by means of visual signals. In this regard, both methodologies were reviewed to explore similarities and differences between them. Then, a focus group survey was performed to specify the preferable methodology for product development according to various parameters in the project environment including project complexity, level of uncertainty, and work size with consideration of output factors like quality, productivity, and delivery. Results show the flexibility of both methodologies in approaching Agile objectives, where Scrum emphasizes on the corporation of the customer and development teams with a focus on particular skills such as planning, organization, presentation, and reviewing which makes it ideal for new and complex projects where a regular involvement of the customer is required, whereas Kanban is more operative in continuous-flow environments with a steady approach toward a system improvement.

Bricolage is a term used to illustrate the practice in which small firms tap scant available resources to exploit business opportunities and to facilitate innovation. We focus on decreasing returns from excessive bricolage and, more importantly, highlight an important role played by supply chain knowledge in mitigating decreasing returns from bricolage. The role played by supply chain knowledge in reducing the negative effects of excessive bricolage is not explored yet. This study, in the context of an emerging economy, seeks to isolate the linear and quadratic effects of bricolage on firm performance and examines the moderating influence of supply chain knowledge on the bricolage-to-firm performance relationship. To test the proposed relationships, data from large-scale manufacturing firms in north-west India were used. The final sample size of 106 firms was used for testing the relationships using stepwise OLS analysis. The results revealed that at lower levels of supply chain knowledge, bricolage had an inverted-U relationship with firm performance. In other words, supply chain knowledge mitigates the negative effects of bricolage on performance. However, it did not strengthen the positive effect of bricolage on performance.

This study aims to apply the TAM in a situation where the customers have not purchased and utilized the products. To achieve its purpose, this study adopts the perceived reliability as an internal variable, and the patent as an external variable. In the context of various levels of technological content and familiarity of consumers with technology products, this study explores whether patents give the technological image to consumers before they use a specific technology will enhance their perceived reliability, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use and purchase intentions. The results showed that when consumers have a low level of familiarity with high-tech products, products labeled with relevant patent information will increase consumers’ awareness of reliability, usefulness, ease of use, and purchase intention.

This paper highlights the role of societal-level self-expression values and national-level extent of technology adoption for individual-level likelihood of engaging in technology entrepreneurial innovation (TEI). We posit that the effect of self-expression on entrepreneurial innovation is indirect — mediated positively by national-level extent of technology adoption, thereby rendering modes and mechanisms of technology adoption in a country as a more proximal whereas values as a more distal antecedent of TEI. We infer that the benefits and effectiveness of government efforts geared towards improving formal institutional structures that assist TEI would however only be felt if those that adopt newer technologies are self-expressive in the first place. Implications for theory, policy, and future empirical research are also discussed.

The aim of this research is to examine sport sponsorship’s effectiveness over the internet. A conceptual framework for sponsorship evaluation over the internet was proposed, incorporating crucial factors such as supporters’ beliefs about sponsorship, their satisfaction form the sport event as well as their degree of sport involvement, the usage of website and social media, awareness of and attitude toward real sponsoring firms and their actual and future purchase intentions concerning sponsors’ goods and services. A quantitative method was used for the purpose of the current research and a total of 3434 questionnaires were successfully completed and analyzed. The empirical results indicated that sponsorship awareness impacts positively and significantly in both actual and intended purchase behavior of the respondents, suggesting that sponsorship awareness is the initial stage of a continuum of fans’ responses that can lead to their purchase intentions and actual purchase. Evidence on this study contributes to the ongoing debate about sponsorship effectiveness and its implication on customer behavior and provides significant implications for managers wishing to improve their future revenues by investing in sponsorship deals, since sponsorship awareness is an important feature that managers must control in order to affect their customers purchasing decisions.

The aim of this study is to empirically explore the influences of a set of key technological, organizational, and environmental (TOE) factors on the achievement of a strategic promised benefit of private portals, which is competitive advantage. Such exploration has not received attention in the web-based information systems’ area. To explore these influences, a theoretical model was developed on the basis of the information system adoption’s literature. The model postulates the TOE factors as crucial antecedents to the realization of competitive advantage. To validate the theoretical model, a questionnaire was constructed by focusing on the most precise measurements items for the TOE factors. A total of 241 responses were collected from the private portal’s users in a higher education institution in Saudi Arabia. The structural equation modeling approach was applied for conducting the required assessment. The results demonstrate that among the tested TOE factors, the relative advantage of private portals and the competitive pressure to adopt them have positive impacts on the achievement of competitive advantage. The empirical evidences produced by this study provide more clarifications about the factors that should be managed carefully to gain competitive advantage from the adopted information system innovations.

In order to realize the resource optimization allocation in the green innovation system of China’s shipbuilding industry under the internet environment, to improve the level of green innovation and to reduce the resource consumption, a resource optimization allocation model and the corresponding allocation strategy are proposed. The model integrates and shares the innovation resource data through Internet of Things (IOT) technology, and optimizes the allocation decision by using the cooperative differential game and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. At the same time, it ensures the robustness of green innovation system and realizes the optimization allocation of resources. A case study is given to illustrate the feasibility of the model. The results show that the green innovation subject can carry out strategic interaction by adjusting the allocation proportion of innovation resources through the proposed model, so as to optimize the overall green innovation benefits of the system.

Given that making research and development (R&D) investments has the potential to generate high profits in the future, this research aims to discuss the merits and demerits of using the major financial models — net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR) and Black–Scholes — in assessing R&D investments. The study follows the appreciative theorizing to examine the strategic implications of financial models for managing R&D and building firm’s competitiveness. Conclusively, the analyses point out how conventional financial models fail to recognize the importance of strategic positioning as there are limits in terms of using the quantified approaches to measure the performance of R&D investments. The main contribution of this paper is the insights as well as the comprehensive and deeper understanding of using the financial models for evaluating investments in new technologies.

The concept of a sharing economy (SE) is a contemporary phenomenon, often seen as a panacea for social issues. Our research is based on an explorative procedure, which qualitatively and quantitatively analyzes more than 70 online platforms associated with the SE in Germany. The results are empirically deduced features, types (of business models) and a definition of the SE. Overall, our results show that the SE appears to be of more a business model modification based on online platforms and incumbent dominated than a social innovation for the market-based society in Germany.
