This paper examined the relationship between humanitarian organizational network, coordination and disaster response in Uganda. Contextually, most research in the area of disaster management rotates around the entire disaster management process/stages. There is inadequate research that tends to study a single stage in the disaster management cycle especially the response stage. Additionally, there are limited studies that have been conducted in developing countries like Uganda, most studies have been and continue to be conducted in highly disaster-prepared, coordinated and developed states. The study used a cross-sectional survey design in which quantitative methods were applied. Findings indicate that coordination positively influenced disaster response. Based on the literature and findings, the study concludes that disaster response is dependent on coordination. The study recommends that responding organizations should establish clear communication channels, build trust and social capital, and ensure that there is learning and adaptation to complex disaster environments. This will lead to better coordination within the humanitarian organizational networks and in turn successful disaster response operations.

The world is undergoing a great change that has not been seen in a 100 years, and the international situation and international pattern are changing profoundly. In order to promote China’s “going out” and explore China–Latin America relationship to build a better national image, this paper, based on the 2001–2023 Latin American Barometer, 2001–2023 Pew Global Attitudes Survey, China Knowledge Network database and 2001–2023 Chinese government website’s reports on Latin America, government website’s reports on Latin America and Africa, tries to discuss Latin American people’s perceptions of China’s national image. This study mainly used Octopus, SPSS and other tools to crawl and analyze the data. The study found that there is a correlation between China’s national image and its national image.

Existing studies have verified the effect of information access on health behaviors, while less is known about the different impacts of distinct information access in a pandemic context. This study identified four information types (including disease knowledge, dynamic news, government measures, and social news) and then investigated how different information access affected preventive behaviors via perceived risk and media credibility during the COVID-19 outbreak in China. A nationally representative sampling survey on Chinese netizens was conducted ($N=802$). It found that access to dynamic news, disease knowledge, and government measures positively predicted perceived severity, while only social news positively predicted perceived susceptibility. Access to disease knowledge, government measures, and social news were positively correlated with media credibility. The mediating roles of perceived risk and media credibility were proved. Besides, the statement of “cues-to-action” was also proved, which indicated that information access impacted behavioral changes more directly rather than through the mediators during COVID-19 pandemic. These findings contribute to a better understanding of how information access impacts public health behaviors in a pandemic context.

The pertussis resurgence has currently become a global public health concern. The widespread vaccination of pertussis vaccine will inevitably lead to changes in the transmission pattern, epidemiological characteristics, and clinical manifestations of pertussis while reducing the overall incidence level. At present, there is no unified pertussis surveillance program across countries, and different surveillance and monitoring approaches are used in different regions, and the reported incidence levels and epidemiological characteristics vary greatly. The integration of emergency management and epidemiological research is essential in the combating of pertussis. Emergency management provides the rapid response necessary to mitigate the impact of an outbreak, while epidemiological research provides the knowledge and understanding to guide effective control strategies. Researchers should take a consideration and discussion about the role of traditional Chinese medicine in this epidemic, as well as the treatment and prevention in the whole course of the disease. Besides, a model of emergency management and epidemiological surveillance system should be established and continuously improved in clinical to combat the pertussis outbreak. This paper aims to provide an epidemic control model of the emergency management procedure in hospital for references, so that the clinical practitioners and healthcare workers may be better prepared and well-respond to a next epidemic.
