The Milky Way is the product of a complex evolution of generations of mergers, collapse, star formation, supernova and collisional heating, radiative and collisional cooling, and ejected nucleosynthesis. Moreover, all of this occurs in the context of the cosmic expansion, the formation of cosmic filaments, dark matter halos, spiral density waves, and emerging dark energy. In this review we summarize observational evidence and discuss recent calculations concerning the formation, evolution nucleosynthesis in the galaxies of the Local Group (LG). In particular, we will briefly summarize observations and simulations for the dwarf galaxies and the two large spirals of the LG. We discuss how galactic halos form within the dark matter filaments that define a super-galactic plane. Gravitational interaction along this structure leads to streaming flows toward the two dominant galaxies in the cluster. These simulations and observations also suggest that a significant fraction of the Galactic halo formed as at large distances and then arrived later along these streaming flows. We also consider the insight provided by observations and simulations of nucleosynthesis both within the galactic halo and dwarf galaxies in the LG.

We study the gravity duals of striped holographic superconductors in the AdS black hole and AdS soliton backgrounds. We show the dependences of the condensation and the critical temperature/critical chemical potential on the inhomogeneity in these two different spacetimes. By exploring the dynamics of the normal phase through the scalar field perturbation, we argue that the pair susceptibility and the conductivity can be possible phenomenological indications to disclose the property of inhomogeneity.

The possible emergence of unparticle has been mooted recently including a mass-like term for gauge field with the Schwinger model at the classical level. A one-loop correction due to bosonization is taken into account and investigation is carried out to study its effect on the unparticle scenario. It is observed that the physical mass, viz., unparticle scale acquires a new definition, i.e. the effect of this correction enters into the unparticle scale in a significant manner. The fermionic propagator is calculated which also agrees with the new scale. It has also been noticed that a novel restoration of the lost gauge invariance reappears when the ambiguity parameter related to the current anomaly acquires a specific expression. We have also observed that a quantum effect can nullify the effect of violation of gauge symmetry caused by some classical terms.

A gauge theory of contact is presented, based on the general idea that the local deformation of the nucleon surface at contact should be gauged by the variation of curvature. A contact force is then defined so as to cope with both the variation of curvature and the deformation. This force generalizes the classical definition of surface tension, in that it depends on the mean curvature, but also depends on the variance of the second fundamental form of surface, considered as a statistical variable over the ensemble of contact spots. It turns out that the variance of the second fundamental form does not depend but on the metric of the space of curvature parameters, organized as Riemann space. This result compels us to review the definition of physical surface of a nucleon.

In this paper, we investigated excitation functions of (n, 2n) reactions on the target nuclei in the mass region (144≤A≤160) for some samarium, europium and gadolinium isotopes. Studies were performed for incident neutron energies between 1 MeV and 20 MeV. We used the ALICE/ASH and TALYS 1.4 codes to investigate the pre-equilibrium effects and the ALICE/ASH were used for the equilibrium effects. The effects of collision probabilities on pre-equilibrium excitation functions were also investigated.

Any metric theory of gravity whose interaction with quantum particles is described by a covariant wave equation is equivalent to a vector theory that satisfies Maxwell-type equations identically. This result does not depend on any particular set of field equations for the metric tensor, but only on covariance. It is derived in the linear case, but can be extended to any order of approximation in the metric deviation. In this formulation of the interaction of gravity with matter, angular momentum and momentum are conserved locally.
