The Legal and Economic Analysis of the WTO/FTA System presents a collation of interdisciplinary studies covering a wide range of issues from WTO dispute settlement issues to trade remedy systems and FTA negotiations. The author applies legal as well as economic rationales and methods to analyze core issues in the world trading system and in doing so, sheds an interesting light on various trade issues. The interdisciplinary analysis on WTO and FTA issues provides a unique opportunity to reconsider many conventional trade topics. For instance, the author shows that third country dumping rarely used in the GATT/WTO system may have a new role with economic incentives in the context of FTAs.

"This collection of essays offers a unique and valuable perspective on both the economics and the law of international trade. Ranging from the dispute settlement mechanism of the World Trade Organization to the use of anti-dumping duties within free trade agreements, the book covers the terrain of trade and trade law with insight and analysis. Scholars of international trade will learn a lot from this."

"The topics cover a wide range of subject matters from the dispute settlement process at the WTO to that of trade remedy issues in free trade agreements. Essays contained in this volume are drafted with care and full of insights into the dynamics of international trade laws. Professor Ahn is uniquely qualified to write essays of this type because he has a rare combination of degrees in law (JD) and in economics (PhD). This enables him to engage in legal research with the eyes of a lawyer and economist at the same time. I think that this volume is an important contribution to the discipline of international economic law."
Professor Mitsuo Matsushita
former WTO Appellate Body Member
"As both a lawyer and economist by training, Ahn makes an exceptional interdisciplinary contribution to the study of international trade in his book. This rich collection of writings surveys both the theoretical and practical aspects of vital topics in international trade, from trade remedies to FTAs. The Legal and Economic Analysis of the WTO/FTA System is a most welcome book; it is highly recommendable not only to scholars and students in the field but also to policymakers."
