Bladeless fan is also called Air Multiplier. It has much more advantages over the traditional fans. It won't hurt the children's fingers for it has no blades and it is easy to clean up. Above all, the energy cost of bladeless fans is only one third of the traditional fans which is very important in our resource shortages days. At present, the competition in fans market is very sharp in our country because much more than enough fans to produce. Bladeless fans play an important role in the market competitions for its environmental protection, safety and energy saving. To satisfy diverse aesthetic demands of consumers, appearance design is the goal many companies pursue to. This paper introduces a new appearance design for bladeless fans. In this design, “circle or ring” is the main elements which meets the Chinese saying “YuanMan” and it is fluency and harmony in vision. Double bracing structure improves the stability. This design can provide continuous and stable wind as well as larger range of airflow covering. The market foreground of this new appearance design bladeless fan would be very widely for its nice looking, good performance and low energy cost.
Research on numerical control (NC) equipment has been more and more abundant; however, there are few existing studies in the field of appearance design for NC equipments. This paper provided a method to generate new appearance design of NC equipments based on product identity (PI). For the purpose of providing guidelines to generate new concept of NC equipment design, this paper, therefore, took the DMG Company (a Germen NC equipment company) as a case, examined the total products of this company from two aspects: Product Image and Product Family. Task 1 was an evaluate task about the Product Image by using the semantic differential (SD) evaluation method; Task 2 was a study task about Product Family to find out features of the products and classify these features. During the Task 2, several features have been found out and summarized, and these features were classified into 3 different levels according to their frequency and importance. In the end, two appearance design samples have been generated based on the analysis above to prove the application of the research.
