Employing the Quark Mass Density- and temperature-dependent model and the Hartle's method, we have studied the slowly rotating strange star with uniform angular velocity. The mass–radius relation, the moment of inertia and the frame dragging for different frequencies are given. We found that we cannot use the strange star to solve the challenges of Stella and Vietri for the horizontal branch oscillations and the moment of inertia I₄₅/(M/M_s)>2.3. Furthermore, we extended the Hartle's method to study the differential rotating strange star and found that the differential rotation is an effective way to get massive strange star.

Assuming that cosmic rays entering the Earth's atmosphere contain a small admixture of nuggets of strange quark matter in form of strangelets one can explain a number of apparently "strange" effects observed in different cosmic rays experiments. We shall demonstrate here that the mass spectrum of such strangelets fills the "nuclear desert" gap existing between the heaviest elements observed in Universe and the next "nuclear-like objects" represented by neutron and strange stars.

The stability of color-flavor locked (CFL) strangelets is studied in the three-flavor Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model. We consider all quark flavors to be massless, for simplicity. By making use of the multiple reflection expansion, we explicitly take into account finite size effects and formulate the thermodynamic potential for CFL strangelets. We find that the CFL gap could be large enough so that the energy per baryon number of CFL strangelets is greatly affected. In addition, if the quark–quark coupling constant is larger than a certain critical value, there is a possibility of finding absolutely stable CFL strangelets.

In this paper, we study strange quark matter for Friedman–Robertson–Walker (FRW) universes in the context of general relativity. For this purpose we consider quark–gluon plasma as a perfect fluid in the FRW universes. After solving Einstein's field equations, we have analyzed this matter for the different types of universe. Also, we discuss the features of collapsing strange quark matter.

The magnetic-color-flavor-locked quark matter is investigated in the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model. Strong nonuniform magnetic fields are employed in order to mimic the spatial dependence of the magnetic field strength at high densities. We find that the gap solution depends strongly on the diquark coupling interaction. Based on the requirement that the parallel pressure should be an increasing function of the chemical potential, an upper limit on the central magnetic field $3.58\times 10^{18}$G is obtained, which increases slightly with the diquark interaction strength. Furthermore, much stronger central magnetic field could occur in the stars composed of magnetic-color-flavor matter than that of ordinary strange quark matter.

In this paper, we have examined charged strange quark matter attached to the string cloud in the spherical symmetric space–time admitting one-parameter group of conformal motions. For this purpose, we have solved Einstein's field equations for spherical symmetric space–time with strange quark matter attached to the string cloud via conformal motions. Also, we have discussed the features of the obtained solutions.

Quark matter is expected to exist in the interior of compact stellar objects as neutron stars or even the more exotic strange stars, based on the Bodmer–Witten conjecture. Bare strange quark stars and (normal) strange quark-matter stars, those possessing a baryon (electron-supported) crust, are hypothesized as good candidates to explain the properties of a set of peculiar stellar sources such as the enigmatic X-ray source RX J1856.5-3754, some pulsars such as PSR B1828-11 and PSR B1642-03, and the anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft γ-ray repeaters. In the MIT bag model, quarks are treated as a degenerate Fermi gas confined to a region of space having a vacuum energy density B_bag (the Bag constant). In this note, we modify the MIT bag model by including the electromagnetic interaction. We also show that this version of the MIT model implies the anisotropy of the bag pressure due to the presence of the magnetic field. The equations of state of the degenerate quarks gases are studied in the presence of ultra strong magnetic fields. The behavior of a system made up of quarks having (or not) anomalous magnetic moment is reviewed. A structural instability is found, which is related to the anisotropic nature of the pressures in this highly magnetized matter. The conditions for the collapse of this system are obtained and compared to a previous model of neutron stars that is built on a neutron gas having anomalous magnetic moment.

We review the stability of magnetized strange quark matter (MSQM) within the phenomenological MIT bag model, taking into account the variation of the relevant input parameters, namely, the strange quark mass, baryon density, magnetic field and bag parameter. A comparison with magnetized asymmetric quark matter in β-equilibrium as well as with strange quark matter (SQM) is presented. We obtain that the energy per baryon for MSQM decreases as the magnetic field increases, and its minimum value at vanishing pressure is lower than the value found for SQM, which implies that MSQM is more stable than non-magnetized SQM. The mass–radius relation for magnetized strange quark stars is also obtained in this framework.

The main properties of magnetized strangelets, namely, their energy per baryon, radius and electric charge, are studied in the unpaired strange quark matter phase. Temperature effects are taken into account in order to study their stability compared to the ⁵⁶Fe isotope and non-magnetized strangelets within the framework of the MIT bag model. It is concluded that the presence of a magnetic field tends to stabilize more the strangelets, even when temperature is considered. We find that the electric charge is modified in the presence of the magnetic field, leading to higher charge values for magnetized strangelets, when compared to the non-magnetized case.

We study the strange quark mass effect on the phase diagram of strong interaction and the structure of compact stars with a thermodynamically enhanced perturbative QCD model by matching quark matter onto nuclear matter using the Gibbs conditions. It is found that the mass effect of strange quark matter can obviously stiffen the equation of state of mixed phases and result in more massive hybrid stars (HSs), while that usually lowers the maximum mass of pure quark stars. Given reasonable model parameters, the maximum mass of HSs can reach two times the solar mass and the stars always have mixed-phase core in a considerably wide range of model parameters.

Previous research studies observed that quark mass scalings typically neglect the inclusion of asymptotic freedom. However, we have introduced a Woods–Saxon-like factor to incorporate the effects of asymptotic freedom into our new mass scaling. Our findings indicate that the equation of state and sound velocity for strange quark matter exhibit different behaviors at zero temperature when using this new mass scaling. This suggests the presence of novel properties in the phase transition and structure of strange stars. Additionally, through numerical calculations, we have successfully obtained a strange star with a mass two times that of the Sun, aligning with astronomical observations. In a parameter group considering first-order perturbation effects, characterized by large C and small D, we have made an interesting discovery: the surface density of the strange star can be lower than that of normal nuclear matter. This observation serves as a possible signal of a phase transition from quark matter to nuclear matter.

The purpose of our work is to investigate some new features of a static anisotropic relativistic hybrid compact star composed of strange quark matter (SQM) in the inner core and normal baryonic matter distribution in the crust. Here we apply the simplest form of the phenomenological MIT bag model equation of state $p_q=\frac{1}{3}({\rho }_q-4B_g)$ to correlate the density and pressure of strange quark matter within the stellar interior, whereas radial pressure and matter density due to baryonic matter are connected by the simple linear equation of state $p_r=\alpha \rho -\beta$. In order to obtain the solution of the Einstein field equations, we have used the Tolman–Kuchowicz ansatz [R. C. Tolman, Static solutions of Einstein’s field equations for spheres of fluid, Phys. Rev.55 (1939) 364–373; B. Kuchowicz, Acta Phys. Pol.33 (1968) 541] and further derivation of the arbitrary constants from some physical conditions. Here, we examine our proposed model graphically and analytically in detail for physically plausible conditions. In particular, for this investigation, we have reported on the compact object Her $X-1$ [$\mathrm{\text{Mass}}=(0.98\pm 0.12)M_{\odot }$; $\mathrm{\text{Radius}}=8.1_{-0.41}^{+0.41}$ km] in our paper as a strange quark star candidate. In order to check the physical validity and stability of our suggested model, we have performed various physical tests both analytically and graphically, namely, dynamical equilibrium of applied forces, energy conditions, compactness factor and surface redshift. Finally, we have found that our present model meets all the necessary physical requirements for a realistic model and can be studied for strange quark stars (SQS).

The work in this paper is devoted to the study of Kaluza–Klein (KK) cosmological model with strange quark matter attached to string cloud in the framework of metric version of $f(R)$ gravity. By utilizing hybrid expansion law for average scale factor of the model i.e. $a(t)=e^{\alpha t}{t}^{\beta }$, here $\alpha$ and $\beta$ are positive constants, we derive the solution of the field equations of KK model in the $f(R)$ gravity. Various dynamical parameters of the model are obtained and their behavior is analyzed through graphical representation. We observe that the analysis of deceleration parameter exhibits a smooth transition of the universe from early decelerated phase to current accelerated epoch. Also, we discussed well-known state-finder parameters $\{r,s\}$ and $\{r,q\}$ planes which are analyzed by graphical representation.

Observational evidence revealed that in the composition of the Universe, the dark energy is in heap proportion which is mainly responsible for the accelerated expansion of the Universe. The astrophysicists hypothesized that every astrophysical object is likely interact with the dark energy Sakti and Sulaksono [Phys. Rev. D 103 (2021) 084042]. Therefore, researchers are intended to study the astrophysical objects with dark energy interaction. In this paper, we proposed a dark energy stars (composed of with dark matter and ordinary matter) model in the Rastall theory of gravity. The Rastall field equations are obtained in the Tolman–Kuchowicz-type metric. To solve the field equations, the arbitrary constants involved in the field equations (due to Tolman–Kuchowicz ansatz) are obtained by matching the interior geometry with the exterior Schwarzschild geometry. The obtained solution is tested physically by computing some analytical results and plotting graphs of different physical parameters like pressure, density for ordinary matter, density for dark matter, mass function, compactness and surface redshift. Stability of the model is also analyzed by different tests like velocity of sound, adiabatic index and TOV equations. The influence of the Rastall parameter on the model has been studied by plotting graphs and computing numerical values of model’s physical parameters for different values of the Rastall parameter. We infer that our propounded model fulfills all the necessary requirements for a physically plausible model.

We explore the possibility of three phases in the core of neutron star in a form of triple layers. From the center, strange quark matter, kaon condensed nuclear matter and nuclear matter form a triple layer. We discuss how the phase of strange quark matter is smoothly connected to kaon condensed nuclear matter phase. We also demonstrate that the compact star with triple layered structure can be a model compatible with the 1.97-solar-mass object PSR J1614-2230 recently observed.

Equation of state of strange quark matter (SQM) in a nonuniform magnetic field is studied within the phenomenological MIT bag model under the charge neutrality and beta equilibrium conditions, relevant to the interior of strange quark stars. The spatial dependence of the magnetic field strength is modeled by the dependence on the baryon chemical potential. The total energy density, longitudinal and transverse pressures in magnetized SQM are found as functions of the baryon chemical potential. It is clarified that the central magnetic field strength in a strange quark star is bound from above by the value at which the derivative of the longitudinal pressure with respect to the baryon chemical potential vanishes first somewhere in the interior of a star under varying the central field. Above this upper bound, the instability along the magnetic field is developed in magnetized SQM.

The static spherically symmetric quark star structure is calculated by using an equation of state which takes into account the superconducting Color-Flavor Locked (CFL) phase of the strange quark matter. Some fundamental aspects of QCD (asymptotic freedom and confinement) are considered by using the phenomenological density-dependent quark mass model. We discuss the influence of model parameters on the conventional mass-radius relationship of a quark star structure. Massive quark stars are found due to the stiffness of the equation of state at low densities.

Strange quark matter, a (still) hypothetical absolutely stable form of cold quark matter with high strangeness content has been investigated for many years, in both its "normal" and paired versions. Chunks of this matter (strangelets) would be ejected in astrophysical events and later reprocessed by collisions with ordinary nuclei in space. We analyze the latter processes, including abrasion, fusion and fission of the original strangelets to understand the physics of these interactions both in the interstellar medium and in the earth's atmosphere. We include finite temperature effects to calculate radii, electric charges and energies for the strangelets with the aim of helping ground-based and space experiments and make comparisons with anomalous cosmic primaries reported in the literature.

This book chapter explores key aspects of neutron stars, pulsar glitches, tidal deformability, fast pulsars, the equation of state, and strange quark matter stars. Challenges in directly measuring neutron star radius have led to reliance on spectroscopic and timing techniques, with uncertainties addressed through careful source selection and theoretical modeling. Pulsar glitches reveal insights into the equation of state through angular momentum transfer within the neutron star. Tidal deformability is crucial in gravitational-wave astronomy, exemplified by the GW170817 event. Fast pulsars, instrumental in astrophysical testing, are classified into ordinary pulsars, millisecond pulsars, and magnetars. The EOS is vital for understanding neutron star internal structure, explored through various models. The chapter delves into the theoretical framework for rotating neutron stars, addressing uniform and differential rotation scenarios and their impacts on mass and radius. Additionally, the intriguing concept of quark stars and strange dwarfs is investigated. The various topics discussed in this book chapter contribute to a broader understanding of dense matter physics, astrophysical phenomena, and the potential for transformative discoveries through advanced observational techniques and technologies like gravitational wave detectors, radio telescopes, and X-ray telescopes.
