There is a special need for a thorough examination of impacts of digitalization on small- and medium-sized enterprises due to their characteristic features. This paper aims to present a detailed picture of the current knowledge through a systematic literature review spanning across two decades and 99 journal contributions. The study results indicate a rather fragmented understanding, a lack of in-depth cause-effect analyses, and a prevalence of techno-centric approaches. By clustering the determinants, a perception shift is revealed. Drawing from critical realism the paper also suggests a definition of SME digitalization and conceptualizes a map of the research area where further avenues may be projected on.

User innovators follow multiple diffusion and adoption pathways for their self-developed innovations. Users may choose to commercialize their self-developed products on the marketplace by becoming entrepreneurs. Few studies exist that focus on understanding personal and interpersonal factors that affect some user innovators’ entrepreneurial decision-making. Hence, this paper focuses on how user innovators make key decisions relating to opportunity recognition and evaluation and when opportunity evaluation leads to subsequent entrepreneurial action in the entrepreneurial process. We conducted an exploratory study using a multi-grounded theory methodology as the user entrepreneurship phenomenon embodies complex social processes. We collected data through the netnography approach that targeted 18 entrepreneurs with potentially relevant differences through crowdfunding platforms. We integrated self-determination, human capital, and social capital theory to address the phenomena under study. This study’s significant findings posit that users’ motives are dissatisfaction with existing goods, interest in innovation, altruism, social recognition, desire for independence, and economic benefits. Besides, use-related experience, product-related knowledge, product diffusion, and iterative feedback positively impact innovative users’ entrepreneurial decision-making.

The purpose of this study is to look into the elements that influence innovative work behavior and job performance while taking into account the moderating role of information sharing. This research sampled middle-level management employees from food and beverage manufacturing sector employing the purposive sampling technique. A survey questionnaire technique has been used to collect data from 161 respondents in three months. The results revealed that management support has no significant effect on innovative work behavior. Furthermore, information sharing has no impact on the relationship between management support and co-worker support, as well as innovative work behavior. However, innovative work behavior moderates the relationships between co-workers support, job autonomy, and job performance. The results of this study may enhance the knowledge of manufacturing SMEs on innovative work behavior and job performance. The findings of this research may improve manufacturing SMEs’ understanding of innovative work behavior and job performance.

This study explores the influence of anchoring price (ANE) on consumer behavior using a quantitative research method. An online survey was piloted, yielding 246 useable responses from 4G and 5G users in China. SmartPLS 3.00 was used to analyze the data, and the assumptions were assessed using the partial least squares-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The empirical findings reveal that the anchoring price (ANE) component partially mediates the connections between purchase intention (CPI) and behavior (CPB) of 5G technology items. This is the first study to investigate the impact of anchoring price (ANE) on intention–behavior relationships. Manufacturers and marketers of 5G technology goods that want to influence positive changes in consumer behavior should look into the study’s findings and implications.

Roadmapping is an established visual mapping method used widely in a variety of organizations. It navigates technology and strategic planning in a structured manner for improved strategy development and decision-making. However, roadmapping implementation can be challenging particularly when initiating in corporate organizations due to the broad range of stakeholder involvement. This paper examines the background history and lessons learned from IHI Corporation, a leading Japanese heavy industry manufacturer, to provide insights regarding how roadmapping implementation can be initiated effectively in corporate settings. Using the roadmapping maturity model for analysis and discussion, this paper contributes to both industrial practice and academic understanding of roadmapping implementation maturity.

This study aims to explore the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing data-driven solutions to address the direct and indirect challenges posed by COVID-19. A sample of six case studies of SMEs from the UK and Portugal were selected to explore in-depth the experience of these companies in proposing innovative solutions in the pandemic context. The findings reveal that the pandemic caused amplifying effects on the digitalization of organizations and the emergence of data-driven solutions. However, the development of a data-driven approach involves not only technologies but also the digitalization of processes and highly skilled human resources. The pandemic was also a catalyst for the emergence of collaborative initiatives that have enabled the development of solutions involving diverse players from science, business, and civilian society. This study offers innovative contributions by focusing exclusively on companies developing data-driven solutions supported by technologies such as the internet of things (IoT), big data, and artificial intelligence.

The protection of intellectual property rights is a mechanism of economic appropriation that seeks to reward innovative efforts. The intellectual property ecosystem structure is particular to each country, generating different investment stimuli during the innovation life cycle. Our objective is to assess the connection between intellectual property and innovation production. We estimate an unconditional panel quantile regression model using annual country data for the intellectual property (IPI) and innovation ecosystems. The pooling specification results show that the effect of intellectual property on innovation output is significant at higher quantiles. However, when controlling for time and individual fixed effects, the intellectual property ecosystem shows a positive effect at the left tail of the innovation output distribution. We also identify the predominance of non-significant effects of IPI on innovation production. The absence of a significant relationship between IPI and innovation output in more developed countries suggests that interaction between these ecosystems needs to be revised to generate better benefits.

Sustainability is one of the main challenges of civil construction. Most architectural paints release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that harm the environment and human health. This paper presents the main discussions and theoretical approaches through bibliometrics on the theme of industrial sustainability in architectural paints. The study presents an analysis of citations, the main topics associated with this specific line of research and a conceptual framework, as well as the identification of the most explored approaches in the literature and the main gaps. The Bibliometrix library from the R package was used to organize the published data used and process the generated analyses. The analysis of 773 international scientific documents from January 1985 to November 2019 allowed an overview of the research field related to industrial sustainability in architectural paints. The main findings are summarized as follows: most documents are focused on the study of new paint compositions, observing sustainability criteria in their development; there was little presence of documents dealing with architectural paintings; most publications focus on the development and testing of new paint formulations, which are obtained from the substitution of toxic substances, which indicates that there is also a need to diversify research approaches in this field; few publications were found addressing the subject, which configures a gap in the literature related to this field of research.
